En Occident, la sédentarisation et notre alimentation de plus en plus riche en graisses et en sucres ont fait exploser l'incidence des troubles métaboliques comme l'obésité, l'hypertension, le diabète, la parodontite et en ont également fait émerger de nouveaux. C'est le cas de la NAFLD (Non Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease), trouble métabolique prémice de la maladie de NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis). Inconnue il y a encore une trentaine d'année, elle est aujourd'hui considérée par certains comme la maladie du 21ème siècle. Son diagnostic est compliqué et tardif du fait du peu de marqueurs précoces observables. Or, le caractère alimentaire de cette maladie intervient dans d'autres pathologies, notamment la carie dentaire ainsi que dans certains troubles métaboliques le diabète ou encore la parodontite avec lesquelles la NAFLD entretien une interrelation étroite. L'étude de la relation entre ces affections pourrait nous permettre d'obtenir un outil de diagnostic précoce de la maladie de Nash et à notre échelle, de lutter contre ce problème de santé publique. L'objectif du travail est de réaliser une revue de la littérature afin de prouver une relation entre NAFLD et état buccodentaire, potentialisée par la présence d'autres troubles métaboliques.
