Seminar paper del año 2015 en eltema Trabajo social, Universidad de Almería, Idioma: Español, Resumen: Este trabajo trata de analizar la intervención socio sanitaria que se realizó el día 9 de Diciembre de 2014, tras la llegada de un patera a las costas de Almería. Dicha intervención se contrastará con el testimonio de un inmigrante que llegó en las mismas condiciones, para comprobar si el abordaje realizado es eficaz e idóneo, o si, por el contrario, hay algún aspecto que deba mejorarse. En la actualidad, los movimientos migratorios forman parte de uno de los fenómenos socioculturales de mayor relevancia del siglo XXI. Cada vez es más frecuente observar en los titulares de los medios de comunicación la llegada por cualquier medio (fronteras, pateras, aeropuertos, etc.) de inmigrantes irregulares que son interceptados por las fuerzas del orden público. Tras su llegada, la importancia de la atención psico-social y de la coordinación entre las instituciones cobra fuerza, ya que son momentos de gran impacto mediático y social en los que cada institución ejecuta diversos protocolos de actuación. La realización de este trabajo está enfocada en la intervención social desde el ámbito sanitario que se realiza tras la llegada de un grupo de personas procedentes de una patera, que no solo necesitan asistencia médica si no también asistencia psico-social. Dicha intervención será contrastada por el testimonio de un inmigrante que llegó en las mismas condiciones. Abstract: This paper analyzes health partner that was held on December 9, 2014, after the arrival of a small boat off the coast of Almería intervention. This intervention will be compared with the testimony of an immigrant who arrived in the same conditions, to check whether the approach used is effective and appropriate, or whether, on the contrary, there are some aspects to be improved.

Much like the United States, the countries of Western Europe have experienced massive immigration in the last three decades. Spain, in particular, has been transformed from an immigrant-exporting country to one receiving hundreds of thousands of new immigrants. Today, almost 13 percent of the country’s population is foreign-born. Spanish Legacies, written by internationally known experts on immigration, explores how the children of immigrants—the second generation—are coping with the challenges of adaptation to Spanish society, comparing their experiences with those of their peers in the United States. Using a rich data set based on both survey and ethnographic material, Spanish Legacies describes the experiences of growing up by the large population of second-generation youths in Spain and the principal outcomes of the process—from national self-identification and experiences of discrimination to educational attainment and labor-market entry. The study is based on a sample of almost 7,000 second-generation students who were interviewed in Madrid and Barcelona in 2008 and then followed and re-interviewed four years later. A survey of immigrant parents, a replacement sample for lost respondents in the second survey, and a survey of native-parentage students complement this rich data set. Outcomes of the adaptation process in Spain are systematically presented in five chapters, introduced by real-life histories of selected respondents drawn by the study’s ethnographic module. Systematic comparisons with results from the United States show a number of surprising similarities in the adaptation of children of immigrants in both countries, as well as differences marked by contrasting experiences of discrimination, self-identities, and ambition.

Guy shows how feminists, social workers, and female philanthropists contributed to the emergence of the Argentine welfare state through their advocacy of child welfare and family-law reform. From the creation of the government-subsidized Society of Beneficence in 1823, women were at the forefront of the child-focused philanthropic and municipal groups that proliferated first to address the impact of urbanization, European immigration, and high infant mortality rates, and later to meet the needs of wayward, abandoned, and delinquent children. Women staffed child-centered organizations that received subsidies from all levels of government. Their interest in children also led them into the battle for female suffrage and the campaign to promote the legal adoption of children. When Juan Perón expanded the welfare system during his presidency (1946–1955), he reorganized private charitable organizations that had, until then, often been led by elite and immigrant women. Drawing on extensive research in Argentine archives, Guy reveals significant continuities in Argentine history, including the rise of a liberal state that subsidized all kinds of women’s and religious groups. State and private welfare efforts became more organized in the 1930s and reached a pinnacle under Juan Perón, when men took over the welfare state and philanthropic and feminist women’s influence on child-welfare activities and policy declined. Comparing the rise of Argentina’s welfare state with the development of others around the world, Guy considers both why women’s child-welfare initiatives have not received more attention in historical accounts and whether the welfare state emerges from the top down or from the bottom up.
