La finalidad de la investigación se basó en determinar los elementos de la educación ambiental que se encuentran incorporados en la formación profesional del ingeniero pesquero en nuestro país. En tal sentido se planteó como parte principal la introducción de la educación ambiental como tema transversal en la enseñanza dentro del plan curricular del ingeniero pesquero como forma racional, inteligente de intervenir sobre las actividades humanas para lograr su adaptación y compatibilidad con la conservación de la biosfera, es decir, que está dirigido a prevenir y corregir los problemas ambientales. Así como también la ambientalización curricular se debe incorporar la dimensión ambiental en la formación profesional. En la ambientalización curricular no necesariamente debe aplicarse sobre los objetos de enseñanza de las ciencias y/o tecnologías, sino en la generación de condiciones propias del ambiente, de modo que en la formación de los alumnos se incorporen acciones (desarrollo de actividades) que contribuyan a la formación en el plano de responsabilidades y éticas, como persona y ciudadano. La incorporación de educación ambiental en los currículos merece el reconocimiento, en el sistema educativo, por el importante papel que representa el medio ambiente en la vida de las personas y en el desarrollo de la sociedad. De ahí reiteramos la necesidad de incorporación de los enfoques medio ambientales en los currículos de las carreras profesionales.
