Knee Arthrography

Knee Arthrography PDF Author: Dennis J. Stoker
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1489931600
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 178

Book Description
Of the joints of the body commonly afflicted by serious pathology the knee is the most accessible. Because it is so accessible drastic treatment may be undertaken prematurely and incorrectly. This does not threaten life but may cause permanent morbidity. Dr Stoker has set about examining this joint in depth as a radiologist. As a direct result the surgeon will be helped to make a correct diagnosis and avoid pitfalls, by a diagnostic procedure that is of little inconvenience to a patient. Arthrography is not new but a fresh appraisal is timely. This is not to suggest that there can be any slackening in clinical examination, or that other methods of examination do not have a place. But there are knee joint problems, particularly in teenage girls, in which a clinical diagnosis is very difficult, but must be made exactly. Arthrography must be accepted as a very useful method of examination of the knee joint and an essential one in certain circumstances. More radiologists should be interested in undertaking this examination and surgeons should ask for it. E.L. Trickey, F.R.C.S.

MRI-Arthroscopy Correlations

MRI-Arthroscopy Correlations PDF Author: Stephen F. Brockmeier
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 1493926454
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 482

Book Description
Integrating MRI findings associated with the spectrum of problems seen in the most commonly treated joints in sports medicine with the diagnostic findings seen during arthroscopy of the same joint in the same patient, this unique text correlates this pathology and applies these findings to the clinic, the radiology reading room and the operating suite. Representing a microcosm of daily patient care, this type of interactive correlation is an exceedingly effective tool for education and continued learning, an impetus for interdisciplinary research collaboration and a critical part of an approach to optimum patient care. Furthermore, this case-based correlation between MRI imaging and arthroscopic findings and treatment is a well-received and effective method for teaching and discussion at meetings and instructional courses. MRI-Arthroscopy Correlations is organized into four sections highlighting the four major joints in which MRI and arthroscopy are most commonly used in sports medicine: knee, shoulder, elbow and hip. Chapters are formatted to present an overview of the specific disease entity first, followed by selected cases chosen by the chapter authors that best illustrate common or noteworthy disease entities or pathology with an emphasis on the parallel MRI imaging and arthroscopic findings. Each of the section editors, as well as the volume editor, are nationally recognized experts, teachers and pioneers in their respective areas of sports medicine and have covered the gamut of topics in each of their sections. Taken together, this will be an invaluable resource for sports medicine specialists, orthopedic surgeons and musculoskeletal radiologists alike, promoting increasingly accurate diagnoses of pathology and advanced treatment options to aid in the optimization of patient care and recovery.

Book Description
We dedicate this text to Drs. Ernest E. Aegerter, a pathologist, and John A. Kirkpatrick Jr., a radiologist. They were among the principal founders of the ?eld of skeletal pathology and radiology. During their time, their residents and colleagues knew them as great educators with a dedication and a passion for their work. Their textbook, Orthopedic Diseases, published initially in 1958 was among the ?rst interdisciplinary works devoted to this ?eld. Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick illuminated many aspects of the ?eld of radiology. Today, with the advent of new technologies, this ?eld has grown to include not only diseases that affect the skeleton but also those that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, and also the cartilaginous structures within joints. With this text we intend to carry on Dr. Aegerter and Dr. Kirkpatrick’s tradition. We have recruited only well-known musculoskeletal radiologists and pathologists to participate in the writing of this book. Each author has been carefully selected for his expertise on the topic about which he’s been asked to contribute. Each author is known as an experienced and seasoned teacher. Each author has made a mark on the ?eld.
