Just Go to the Airport

Just Go to the Airport PDF Author: John Neale
Publisher: Austin Macauley Publishers
ISBN: 1398412783
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 293

Book Description
This is the story of the stuff of dreams and how they can actually happen in the best way possible. A story of two people living three completely different lifestyles over a four-year Odyssey. After a fork in the road presented itself, John and Helen left Sydney Australia for a hemisphere change to live on the Greek Island of Samos. At the time of leaving, they were both at the top of their professions in the IT Industry. Life, love, and all manner of emotions came forth to capture the start of their destiny on Samos, where they lived for nine months. From this Greek Island they moved to London and John worked in the IT Industry with Helen working as a PA, a job for which she was overqualified. Great success in the UK then led to a second fork in the road and they decided to buy a large sailing yacht and leave England to sail and live in Europe, having the Mediterranean Sea in mind and to return to the Greek Island of Samos, which they considered their spiritual home in Europe. To do this they needed to complete a three-month course in sailing and navigation with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA). After this they left England to sail and live in Europe and the last of the three lifestyles. It is a story of people, countries and their peoples, adventure, the romance of the sea and life and above all... emotions! To adopt these lifestyles, they needed an abundance of confidence, intelligence, and courage. These qualities they had. A similar tale to the TV Series “The Durrells” on a Greek Island. Then onto the TV Series “Emily in Paris” for their city success. The last of course being the return of Odysseus, the Greek hero, who sailed home and returned to the Greek Island of Ithaca after an absence of some years where similarly John and Helen returned, under sail, to the Greek Island of Samos.

Book Description
Twelve men from different religions and walks of life receive a plain white envelope that contains just one word: COME. Each must respond immediately to the request and give up their way of life. They are a Wall Street broker, a British lord, a homeless person, a poor taxi driver from India, an oil tycoon from South America, a doctor, an archeologist, an engineer, a rock star, a prince from Saudi Arabia, a jeweler from Israel, and a priest from Italy. Their beliefs are in several different gods. There is a Buddhist, one who believes in Allah, some who believe in the one God, and an agnostic, who believes in nothing. Each of these men do not know where they are going. They just go because they are called. They are taken to a monastery where their journey begins. When they arrive at the monastery, they find that they have been called to search for some of the rarest artifacts known to man. Each is given a task that they must complete within one month. They are sent to different parts of the world in search of these artifacts. Among some of the places they will travel to are Brazil, Turkey, India, Egypt, and China. Each man or team of men searches the world over to bring the artifacts back to the monastery. When they find the artifact and touch it, they are forever changed. They cannot believe what they have found. Many will be brought to tears. All will find inner peace. They have been called at a time of complete turmoil in the world, and what they find will bring about peace. This is a story that may make you cry, may make the unbeliever believe. Hopefully, it will bring joy and inner peace to those who read it. Please join with me on the journey of these twelve very special men.

A Week at the Airport

A Week at the Airport PDF Author: Alain De Botton
Publisher: Emblem Editions
ISBN: 0771026285
Category : Travel
Languages : en
Pages : 113

Book Description
The bestselling author of The Architecture of Happiness and The Art of Travel spends a week at an airport in a wittily intriguing meditation on the "non-place" that he believes is the centre of our civilization. In the summer of 2009, Alain de Botton was invited by the owners of Heathrow airport to become their first ever writer-in-residence. Given unprecedented, unrestricted access to wander around one of the world's busiest airports, he met travellers from all over the globe, and spoke with everyone from baggage handlers to pilots, and senior executives to the airport chaplain. Based on these conversations he has produced this extraordinary meditation on the nature of travel, work, relationships, and our daily lives. Working with the renowned documentary photographer Richard Baker, he explores the magical and the mundane, and the interactions of travellers and workers all over this familiar but mysterious "non-place," which by definition we are eager to leave. Taking the reader through departures, "air-side," and the arrivals hall, de Botton shows with his usual combination of wit and wisdom that spending time in an airport can be more revealing than we might think.
