Book Description
Excerpt from Therapeutic Key, or Practical Guide for the Homeopathic Treatment of Acute Diseases HE preface to this little volume may be written in a few words. It first made its appearance in 1871, and now, in the autumn of 1876, has reached its Third Edition. During this brief period over five thousand copies have been distributed among the members of the Profession. A new edition is again called for, in order to correct and improve the work before again committing it to the press; and to this end we have labored to replace all doubtful by new and more cer tain materials, and to so blend and incorporate the additions as not to materially increase its size. This has been accomplished, in a great part, by increasing the length of the pages. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from Therapeutic Key, or Practical Guide for the Homoeopathic Treatment of Diseases in General The symptoms detailed throughout the work are marked according to their estimated value. The asterisks rep resent characteristic symptoms, or key-notes. Those in italics represent similar symptoms, but of a less prominent character; while those left without a sign, correspond to a third degree of distinction. The remedies placed in brackets at the end of the given symptoms, signify that they are indicated by similar symptoms. It will be apparent from an examination of the work, that a good deal of labor has been bestowed upon it, in order to bring it to its present state. But the favor with which it has been received by the Profession, leads me to hope that in this, my last attempt, the labor has not been spent in vain. Book Description
Excerpt from Therapeutic Key, or Practical Guide for the Homoeopathic Treatment of Acute Diseases For convenience, it is desirable that a book of this kind should be made to occupy as little Space as pos sible, and for this reason I have considered only acute diseases, or that class requiring prompt treatment, and which does not admit of time to consult larger works at the office. A chapter, however, has been devoted to the treatment of Poisoning, and also one on Ap parent Death from Drowning, &c., which will be found of great practical importance to the junior, as well as to the older members of the Profession. Still Time to Care

Still Time to Care PDF Author: Greg Johnson
Publisher: Zondervan
ISBN: 0310116066
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 304

Book Description
At the start of the gay rights movement in 1969, evangelicalism's leading voices cast a vision for gay people who turn to Jesus. It was C.S. Lewis, Billy Graham, Francis Schaeffer and John Stott who were among the most respected leaders within theologically orthodox Protestantism. We see with them a positive pastoral approach toward gay people, an approach that viewed homosexuality as a fallen condition experienced by some Christians who needed care more than cure. With the birth and rise of the ex-gay movement, the focus shifted from care to cure. As a result, there are an estimated 700,000 people alive today who underwent conversion therapy in the United States alone. Many of these patients were treated by faith-based, testimony-driven parachurch ministries centered on the ex-gay script. Despite the best of intentions, the movement ended with very troubling results. Yet the ex-gay movement died not because it had the wrong sex ethic. It died because it was founded on a practice that diminished the beauty of the gospel. Yet even after the closure of the ex-gay umbrella organization Exodus International in 2013, the ex-gay script continues to walk about as the undead among us, pressuring people like me to say, "I used to be gay, but I'm not gay anymore. Now I'm just same-sex attracted." For orthodox Christians, the way forward is a path back to where we were forty years ago. It is time again to focus with our Neo-Evangelical fathers on care--not cure--for our non-straight sisters and brothers who are living lives of costly obedience to Jesus. With warmth and humor as well as original research, Still Time to Care will chart the path forward for our churches and ministries in providing care. It will provide guidance for the gay person who hears the gospel and finds themselves smitten by the life-giving call of Jesus. Woven throughout the book will be Richard Lovelace’s 1978 call for a "double repentance" in which gay Christians repent of their homosexual sins and the church repents of its homophobia--putting on display for all the power of the gospel.

Rational Therapy (Classic Reprint)

Book Description
Excerpt from Rational Therapy As a teacher of graduates, I have been impressed with the dissatisfaction existing with the state of Therapeutics, which appears to most physicians chaotic. I have tried in this book to give a guide in the treatment of the sick by emphasizing that blood alone cures, and that all methods used to treat disease must serve to purify it, and bring it where it is needed. I have discussed the various therapeutic methods with this idea in View and have given the essentials of each, enough I believe, for immediate use, and to serve as an introduction to special works, which the book is not intended to replace. To accomplish this, each chapter had to be short, an outline only of the vast material it represents. This applies especially to the one on drugs, almost sketchy in character, yet like the others, contain ing the essentials of this method of treatment. It has been my aim to make this book useful for every day practice. The healing force of Nature has been explained in the Intro duction. The chapter on Fresh Air contains an outline of the treatment with Air Bath, Sun Bath and Climate. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from Old-School and New-School Therapeutics To established therapeutic facts the profession clings as with the heart and hand of one man; clings with a despera tion and unanimity whose intensity is the measure of the unsatisfied desire for something fixed. Yet with what a babel of discordant voices does it celebrate its two thousand years 'of experience! Looking at the revolutions and contradictions of 'the past, listening to the therapeutic babel of the present, is it a wonder that men should take refuge in nihilism, and like the lotus-eaters, dream that all alike is folly, - that rest and quiet and calm are the only human fruition?
