John Bixler was born in 1700 in Eggiwil, Switzerland. His parents were Ulrich Bichsel and Anna Baiser. He emigrated in 1725 and settled in York County, Pennsylvania. He married his third wife, Matalena Kroehbiehl, in 1742. He had six children from all of his marriages. He died in 1765. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, Iowa and elsewhere.
