Book Description
We present results on measurements of jet shapes and jet azimuthal decorrelation from {bar p}P collisions at (square root)s = 1.8 TeV using data collected during the 1992-1993 run of the Fermilab Tevatron. Jets are seen to narrow both with increasing Awe {sub TTY} and increasing rapidity. While HERWIG, a puritan shower Monte Carlo, predicts slightly narrower jets, it describes the trend of the data well; NO CD described qualitative features of the data but is sensitive to both renormalization scale and jet definitions. Jet azimuthal decorrelation has been measured out to five units of pseudorapidity. While next-to-leading order CD and a leading-log approximation based on BFKL resummation fail to reproduce the effect, HERWIG describes the data well.

Two-particle Momentum Correlation in Jets at the Tevatron

Book Description
Presented are the measurements of two-particle momentum correlations in jets produced in p-pbar collisions at center of mass frame energy 1.96 TeV. Studies were performed for charged particles within a restricted opening angle of 0.5 rad around the jet axis and for dijet events with various dijet masses. Comparison of the experimental results to the theoretical predictions obtained for partons within the framework of the resummed perturbative QCD (Next-to-Leading Log Approximation) shows that the parton momentum correlations do survive the hadronization stage of jet fragmentation, thus, giving further support to the hypothesis of Local Parton-Hadron Duality.

Book Description
The distribution of the transverse energy in jets has been measured in p{bar p} collisions at √s = 1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider using the CDF and DO detectors. This measurement of the jet shape is made as a function of jet transverse energy in both experiments and as a function of the jet pseudorapidity in the D0 experiment. Comparisons to Monte Carlo simulations and next-to-leading order partonic QCD calculations, [Omicron]([alpha]{sub s}3), are presented.

Jet Physics at the LHC
Author: Klaus Rabbertz
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319421158
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 226
Book Description
This book reviews the latest experimental results on jet physics from proton-proton collisons at the LHC. Jets allow to determine the strong coupling constant over a wide range of energies up the highest ones possible so far, and to constrain the gluon parton distribution of the proton, both of which are important uncertainties on theory predictions in general and for the Higgs boson in particular.A novel approach in this book is to categorize the examined quantities according to the types of absolute, ratio, or shape measurements and to explain in detail the advantages and differences. Including numerous illustrations and tables the physics message and impact of each observable is clearly elaborated.

Review of Recent Tevatron Jet, W

Pages : 9
Book Description
This document reviews several recent measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron, including the cross sections of inclusive jet, dijet production, the cross sections of electroweak boson (W or Z) production in association with inclusive or heavy-flavor (b or c) jets, and b-jet shapes. In addition, searches for new physics using the dijet angular distributions are discussed. These analyses are based on integrated luminosities of 0.3--2.5/fb of p-{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV, collected with the CDF and D0 detectors. The results directly test the leading order and next-to leading order calculations of perturbative quantum chromodynamics and provide constraints on the parton distribution functions, gluon-splitting contribution, and physics beyond the standard model.

Jet Shapes in Hadron and Electron Colliders

Book Description
High energy jets are observed both in hadronic machines like the Tevatron and electron machines like LEP. These jets have an extended structure in phase space which can be measured. This distribution is usually called the jet shape. There is an intrinsic relation between jet variables, like energy and direction, the jet algorithm used, and the jet shape. Jet shape differences can be used to separate quark and gluon jets.

Book Description
This contribution reports preliminary jet results in p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV from the CDF and D0 experiments. The jet inclusive cross section, measured using both the Midpoint and the K{sub T} jet clustering algorithm, is compared to next-to-leading order QCD prediction in different rapidity regions. The b-jet inclusive cross section measured exploiting the long lifetime and large mass of B hadrons is presented and compared to QCD prediction. A complementary measurement, using the large branching fraction of B hadrons into muons, is also described. The measurement of two-particle momentum correlation in jets is presented and compared to predictions.
