John Clark (d.1767) his will names seven older children viz. William, Archibald, John, Lewis, Elizabeth, Daniel and Nathan Clark. It also includes his four youngest children viz. Benjamin, David, Penelope and James Clark, all of Duplin Co., N.C. John's will indicates that he was a descendant of Alexander Clark and his son Gilbert of Bladen Co. Also, John's son Benjamin (d.1838) named his eldest son Gilbert. Benjamin married Mary McLendon. After the Revolutionary War, Benjamin Clark, Sr. moved to Tennessee. Later he moved to Hempstead Co., Arkansas. Gilbert, the son of Benjamin, settled in Hopkins Co., Texas.
