Knowledge Discovery in Cyberspace
Author: Kristijan Kuk
Publisher: Nova Science Publishers
ISBN: 9781536105667
Category : Computer crimes
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
This book is a practical handbook of research on dealing with mathematical methods in crime prevention for special agents, and discusses their capabilities and benefits that stem from integrating statistical analysis and predictive modeling. It consists of a current collection of research with contributions by authors from different nations in different disciplines. After reading this book, the reader should be able to understand the fundamental nature of cyberspace; understand the role of cyber-attacks; learn analytical techniques and the challenges of predicting events; learn how languages and culture are influenced by cyberspace; and learn techniques of the cyberspace public opinion detection and tracking process. Understanding cyberspace is the key to defending against digital attacks. This book takes a global perspective, examining the skills needed to collect and analyze event information and perform threat or target analysis duties in an effort to identify sources for signs of compromise, unauthorized activity and poor security practices. The ability to understand and react to events in cyberspace in a timely and appropriate manner will be key to future success. Most of the collections are research-based practices that have been done throughout the years. The authors hope that the presented work will be of great use to police investigators and cyber special agents interested in predictive analytics.

The Pressure of Europeanisation
Author: Barbara Lippert
Publisher: Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft
ISBN:
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 208
Book Description
This book deals with EU-driven "Europeanization" of the public administrations in five countries of Central and Eastern Europe (Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovenia) that joined the EU in 2004. Since the early 1990s, preparation for membership has gradually worked as a factor and incentive to shape and develop structures and institutions capable of meeting the obligations and needs of a future EU member state. While challenges arise from both legacies of the past and new demands after effective membership, the authors argue that the five new members will most likely develop into normal players in the EU system.

Administrative Traditions
Author: B. Guy Peters
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0192645455
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 288
Book Description
Contemporary public administration reflects its historical roots, as well as contemporary ideas about how the public bureaucracy should be organized and function. This book argues that there are administrative traditions that have their roots centuries ago but continue to influence administrative behaviour. Further within Western Europe, North America, and the Antipodes there are four distinctive administrative traditions: Anglo-American, Napoleonic, Germanic, and Scandinavian. These are not the only traditions however, and the book also explores administrative traditions in Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Islamic world. In addition, the book contains a discussion of how administrative traditions of the colonial powers influenced contemporary administration in Africa, and how they continue to interact with traditional forms of governance. These discussions of tradition and persistence are also discussed in light of the numerous attempts to reform and change public administration. Some administrative traditions have been more capable than others of resisting attempts at reform, especially those associated with the New Public Management.
