Book Description
Essay from the year 2012 in the subject Environmental Sciences, grade: 1, , language: English, abstract: Which one to choose? Recycling wastes and reproducing less healthy and, most of the time, lower-quality products or polluting the environment by burning these wastes? My research method is studying different data sources and discovering new and detailed information. My research units are various books, journals, newspapers and websites that I could reach. I read all sources I encountered and sampled their content shortly and briefly in my research paper. The most important difference of my research from other works is the fact that I did not face any other study that contains the direct relationship between waste recycle and waste incineration. This is not a new problem; it came out almost when the production of goods from plastics, glass, metal and paper begun. It’s very important and it has a large impact on the next generations’ life. According to my source-study, nearly all sources talk about these problems, about their advantages and disadvantages separately. But I could see no source that compares these problem topics. Therefore, I tried to do this comparison in my work and make my work different from the preceding ones.

Waste Incineration and Public Health

Waste Incineration and Public Health PDF Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 030906371X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 336

Book Description
Incineration has been used widely for waste disposal, including household, hazardous, and medical wasteâ€"but there is increasing public concern over the benefits of combusting the waste versus the health risk from pollutants emitted during combustion. Waste Incineration and Public Health informs the emerging debate with the most up-to-date information available on incineration, pollution, and human healthâ€"along with expert conclusions and recommendations for further research and improvement of such areas as risk communication. The committee provides details on: Processes involved in incineration and how contaminants are released. Environmental dynamics of contaminants and routes of human exposure. Tools and approaches for assessing possible human health effects. Scientific concerns pertinent to future regulatory actions. The book also examines some of the social, psychological, and economic factors that affect the communities where incineration takes place and addresses the problem of uncertainty and variation in predicting the health effects of incineration processes.

Production-Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management in the Chemical Industry

Production-Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management in the Chemical Industry PDF Author: Claus Christ
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527613870
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 211

Book Description
Production-integrated environmental protection is synonymous with - reducing the amount of potential pollutants at source - reducing the consumption of resources and energy - recycling and utilization of residues and used products, and therefore a topic of considerable current interest. No chemical process exists that produces only the product desired. Therefore it is an important aim of the chemical industry to reduce the environmental effects of residues of chemical processes. This can be achieved by: - optimizing processes - applying new synthesis routes - improving selectivity - replacing auxiliaries that have a harmful effect on the environment - production-integrated recovery of residues to name just a few possibilities. If you want to know more about them, have a look at Protection-Integrated Environmental Protection and Waste Management. There you will find examples from the chemical industry where modification of existing manufacturing processes or the design of new processes has led to reduction of environmental pollution. Data from companies are given who operate world-wide reflecting a multi national situation.

Year of No Garbage

Year of No Garbage PDF Author: Eve O. Schaub
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1510775404
Category : House & Home
Languages : en
Pages : 319

Book Description
"Eve’s brave and honest experiment reveals the shocking impact of the throwaway society we’ve become and at the same time showing small ways we can all do better.” —Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, founder of Plastic Free July Year of No Garbage is Super Size Me meets the environmental movement. In this book Eve O. Schaub, humorist and stunt memoirist extraordinaire, tackles her most difficult challenge to date: garbage. Convincing her husband and two daughters to go along with her, Schaub attempts the seemingly impossible: living in the modern world without creating any trash at all. For an entire year. And- as it turns out- during a pandemic. In the process, Schaub learns some startling things: that modern recycling is broken, and single stream recycling is a lie. That flushable wipes aren’t flushable and compostables aren’t compostable. That plastic drives climate change, fosters racism, and is poisoning the environment and our bodies at alarming rates, as microplastics are being found everywhere, from the top of Mount Everest to the placenta of unborn babies. If you’ve ever thought twice about that plastic straw in your drink, you’re gonna want to read this book.
