Astroparticle, Particle and Space Physics, Detectors and Medical Physics Applications

Astroparticle, Particle and Space Physics, Detectors and Medical Physics Applications PDF Author: Claude Leroy
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814307513
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 950

Book Description
The exploration of the subnuclear world is done through increasingly complex experiments covering a wide range of energy and performed in a large variety of environments from particle accelerators, underground detectors to satellites and space laboratory. The achievement of these research programs calls for novel techniques, new materials and instrumentation to be used in detectors, often of large scale. Therefore, fundamental physics is at the forefront of technological advance and also leads to many applications. Among these, medical applications have a particular importance due to health and social benefits they bring to the public.

32-bit SuperH Microcomputers

32-bit SuperH Microcomputers PDF Author: Yukiho Fujisawa
Publisher: IOS Press
ISBN:
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 298

Book Description
Computers, including microcomputers, have made our lives richer and easier in many ways. Many devices include a built-in microcomputer and, through connection to the telephone network or other kinds of networks, are controlled by means of instantaneous data exchange or by an optimal control method for the current circumstances. This book deals with SuperH, the high-performance RISC-system microcomputers for embedded applications. Their performance is the same as that of a 32-bit microcomputer or a game machine - or rather, they are the microcomputers that are actually used. There is no predetermined system or board as in a personal computer. Knowledge of the hardware, at least, is necessary to use it. It is also necessary to create a board. But looking at it from a different angle, the SuperH is a microcomputer that makes it possible to be used in an unrestricted environment and configure a system that gives free rein to one's ideas. The SuperH includes single-chip products that can be used with simple hardware and also products capable of running Linux, Windows CE degrees] and OS-9. appropriate for the use of a plastic package, allowing extended operation on battery power. This book has been edited for use as an introductory guide to the basics of using the SuperH. Numerous explanations of basic points have been included so that the SuperH can also be applied to products which will be developed in the future.

Heart of Flint

Heart of Flint PDF Author: Scott Stricklen
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781517015176
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 672

Book Description
Heart of Flint begins in Western Oklahoma, 1965. Flint Monroe, an elderly gentleman with a recent heart problem, has been staying with his daughter and her family for the past two weeks. Feeling abandoned by his wife, along with the fear of what was to become of him next, Flint begins to tell Shelby, the daughter with whom he's staying, a story about his past. Something that has now also began to haunt him. A life she knew nothing about. Skeptical at first, Shelby half-heartedly listens to her father as he begins by telling about another woman being her mother who was killed in a very primitive and vicious way. Still not really believing, she, along with her family and Donna, the only mother she ever knew, travel back to where it all was supposed to have happened with Flint; The Ozarks of Missouri. Upon arriving, Shelby's daddy, Flint, begins to relay to her the story of his life. From his first being placed there as a little boy, to why he had to leave his beloved home of Big Gap. This original story, sometimes horrific, but yet seemingly real, goes on to portray the hard grit way of living in a small backwoods community, circa 1900. There is murder, along with religion, and as the mysteries begin to unfold, you will be moved by it. You will laugh, you may even shed a tear. It is the type of book that you will not want to put down as one page after the next becomes more interesting than before, from beginning to end. The kind of story a person will not soon forget.

Book Description
The 1997 International Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics was held at the campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and at the Jerusalem Renaissance Hotel, from August 19th to August 25th, 1997. This was the first time that the European Physical Society had its High Energy Physics Conference outside the boundary of Europe. A total of 550 physicists participated in the conference with a total of 250 presentations in the parallel sessions and 26 presentations in the plenary sessions. The Board of the of the High Energy and Particle Physics division (HEPP) of the EPS acted as the Scientific Organizing Committee. The Board acknowl edges the help of the International Advisory Committee as well as that of the Local Organizing Committee. The conference was co-organized by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and by the Weizmann Institute of Science, with important help by physi cists from the Israeli Institute of Technology (Technion) and the Tel Aviv University.
