Analytical Profile of the Resin Spot Test Method

Analytical Profile of the Resin Spot Test Method PDF Author: Vladimir Grdinic
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351078089
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 405

Book Description
The working title of the book was The Detection of Analytes by the Resin Spot Tests Method. Firstly, we decided to sort out all published qualitative methods systematically against analytes. We were not discouraged by the obstacles, such as the study of a great number of papers published in Japanese, the difficulty in locating (especially older) publications, or the time required. Still, having in mind not to burden unnecessarily the volume of the book, we dismissed the idea of systematically listing all the procedures in detail. Nevertheless, a relatively large number of them found a place in the book, and perhaps this will contribute to the stirring of spontaneous interest in this technique in the ranks of applied chemists and others who a priori shun the technique.

Ion Exchange Technology

Ion Exchange Technology PDF Author: Arup K. SenGupta
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000717615
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 410

Book Description
This book provides comprehensive coverage of developments in ion exchange areas which would continue to have major impacts in the general pursuit of pollution control and pollution prevention. Its nine chapters can be split into four different theme areas: trace contaminants removals; new materials; desalination and finally controlling gaseous pollutants. This would have value for practicing engineers, scientists and researchers who are pertaining to ion exchange technology. It would also server the needs of those trying to explore and identify new technologies in the areas of pollution control and pollution prevention.

Long-Term Performance of Permeable Reactive Barriers

Long-Term Performance of Permeable Reactive Barriers PDF Author: K.E. Roehl
Publisher: Gulf Professional Publishing
ISBN: 0080535615
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 345

Book Description
While extensive research has been performed on many technological aspects of permeable reactive barriers and a number of contaminants have so far been successfully treated by PRB systems, long-term performance has not been extensively considered and little is known about the processes influencing long-term behaviour. This gap in our knowledge is all the more disadvantageous as design life has a decisive influence on the economic viability of PRBs. The book describes methods for evaluation and enhancement of the long-term performance of PRB systems, especially of those targeting heavy metals, specifically uranium, and organic contaminants by sorption and/or precipitation mechanisms. Major topics in the book are: - Selection and characterisation of suitable reactive materials - Characterisation of the relevant contaminant attenuation processes - Developing new contaminant-binding chemical compounds ("ligands") - Accelerated testing methods to assess the long-term performance of the attenuation mechanisms in PRBs - Evaluation of the influence of site characteristics on PRB performance - Monitoring of existing and new field installations - Coupling of electrokinetic techniques and PRB systems - Large-scale laboratory and field tests and their results It addresses the long-term performance of PRBs, an important feature of this novel remediation technology, systematically. It deals extensively with heavy metal removal, with special emphasis on uranium. A number of case studies, experiences with large-scale modelling and test site experiments provide insight into the practical application of the results. This volume will contribute to the science underpinning groundwater remediation, and this will result in the improvement of quality of life and health and safety.* A systematic approach to investigating the long-term performance of permeable reactive barriers* Development of new contaminant-binding chemical compounds ("ligands"), accelerated testing methods to assess the long-term performance, and efficiency enhancing electrokinetic techniques* Extensive data and information on a Hungarian uranium mining facility; once a carefully kept secret of the Soviet Union

Ion Exchange

Ion Exchange PDF Author: C E Harland
Publisher: Royal Society of Chemistry
ISBN: 1847551181
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 304

Book Description
Ion Exchange, 2nd Edition is a totally revised and updated version of the highly popular Monograph for Teachers, first published by The Royal Society of Chemistry in 1975. It covers the practical application of ion exchange and the synthesis of organic ion exchange resins, which have spanned nearly 60 years of development since the pioneering work of Adams and Holmes in 1935. This book covers the theory, development, and application in considerable detail and describes the history of development of ion exchange materials and the advances in their utilization in industrial processes. Key applications in such areas as water purification, hydrometallurgy, and chromatography are described and supported by chapters on the related scientific fundamentals governing equilibria and kinetics of ion exchange. Twenty-two experiments using inexpensive equipment are detailed, which not only complement a chapter dedicated to the characterization of organic exchangers, but also serve to illustrate several other pure and applied principles related to ion exchange phenomena. It is anticipated that the unique inclusion of experiments and the broad coverage of the whole text should appeal to a wide readership and offer particular relevance to practitioners in schools, colleges, and industry.
