The theoretical anomaly about why monetary stimulus did not create U.S. economic growth is explained by a simple economic idea: When the rate of private capital investment in the U. S. goes down, then the rate of technological innovation goes down. When the rate of technological innovation goes down, then the rate of economic growth stagnates around a Nash equilibrium of about 2% per year. In the Nash equilibrium, the Fed, the banks, and venture capital do not have a reason to change what they are doing, and consequently, doing the same old thing leads to the same old result. In other words, more monetary growth and more government stimulus will not cause economic growth. Only capital investment causes economic growth, and almost all economic growth is caused by capital investments in a very small part of the economy that is connected to technology innovation.
