International Congress on Polymers in Concrete (ICPIC 2018)

International Congress on Polymers in Concrete (ICPIC 2018) PDF Author: Mahmoud M. Reda Taha
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319781758
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 699

Book Description
This volume collects the proceedings from the International Congress of Polymers in Concrete 2018 (ICPIC), held under the theme “Polymers for Resilient and Sustainable Concrete Infrastructure.” ICPIC 2018 provides an opportunity for researchers and specialists working in the fields of polymers to exchange ideas and follow the latest progress in the use of polymers in concrete infrastructure. It also showcases the use of polymers and polymer concrete in sustainable and resilient development, and provides a platform for local and overseas suppliers, developers, manufacturers and contractors using polymers, polymer concrete and polymer composites in concrete structures to develop new business opportunities and follow the latest developments in the field. The International Congress of Polymers in Concrete is an international forum that has taken place every three years for the last 40 years with the objective of following progress in the field of polymers and their use in concrete and construction. Following 15 successful congresses held in London (1975), Austin (1978), Koriyama (1981), Darmstadt (1984), Brighton (1987), Shanghai (1990), Moscow (1992), Oostende (1995), Bologna (1998), Honolulu (2001), Berlin (2004), Chuncheon (2007), Funchal (2010), Shanghai (2013) and Singapore (2015), the 16th ICPIC will take place in Washington, DC, from April 29 to May 1st, 2018.

Laboratory Investigation of 4-1/2-in. Aggregate Concrete Mixtures with High Water-cement Ratios

Laboratory Investigation of 4-1/2-in. Aggregate Concrete Mixtures with High Water-cement Ratios PDF Author: William O. Tynes
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aggregates (Building materials).
Languages : en
Pages : 44

Book Description
The purpose of the investigation was to either validate or disprove the assumption that a water-cement ratio (W/C) in excess of 0.8 by weight for interior concrete containing 4-1/2-in. maximum size aggregate can be used in mass concrete construction, and to compare the properties of concrete containing 4-1/2-in. maximum size aggregate with those of the concretes containing 3- and 6-in. maximum size aggregates. The investigation consisted of a laboratory test program in which a series of six lean mass concrete mixtures, both with and without pozzolan, containing 4-1/2-in. maximum size aggregate were proportioned with identical W/C's that had been selected from the work of a previous investigation. Specimens were cast and tests were made to evaluate the mixtures for workability, strength, permeability, and durability.

Eco-Efficient Concrete

Eco-Efficient Concrete PDF Author: Fernando Pacheco-Torgal
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0857098993
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 625

Book Description
Eco-efficient concrete is a comprehensive guide to the characteristics and environmental performance of key concrete types.Part one discusses the eco-efficiency and life cycle assessment of Portland cement concrete, before part two goes on to consider concrete with supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). Concrete with non-reactive wastes is the focus of part three, including municipal solid waste incinerator (MSWI) concrete, and concrete with polymeric, construction and demolition wastes (CDW). An eco-efficient approach to concrete carbonation is also reviewed, followed by an investigation in part four of future alternative binders and the use of nano and biotech in concrete production. With its distinguished editors and international team of expert contributors, Eco-efficient concrete is a technical guide for all professionals, researchers and academics currently or potentially involved in the design, manufacture and use of eco-efficient concrete. - The first part of the book examines the eco-efficiency and life cycle assessment of Portland cement concrete - Chapters in the second part of the book consider concrete with supplementary cementitious materials, including properties and performance - Reviews the eco-efficient approach to concrete carbonation
