Introductory Aerodynamics and Hydrodynamics of Wings and Bodies PDF Author: Frederick O. Smetana
Publisher: AIAA
ISBN: 9781600860836
Category : Aerodynamics
Languages : en
Pages : 270

Book Description
Annotation This textbook and its six supporting computer programs provide theoretical modeling of the aerodynamic characteristics of wings and bodies at low Mach numbers. The approach presented directly helps engineering students improve problem-solving skills by teaching them to discern the necessary steps associated with solving analytical problems. The book also presents a justification and rationale for validating end results that leave the student with an understanding of the answer. The text differs from others by providing interactive computer programs that allow the student to conduct trade studies. It provides case-specific software that permits the student to do considerably more characteristic analysis of user-selected wings and bodies than is possible with other introductory textbooks. In addition, the algorithms are capable of working problems at a level well beyond those typically solved by hand in other textbooks. This approach allows students to determine easily the effects of modifying parameters and geometry. Another benefit of using this textbook is the understanding students gain of the capabilities of large industrial codes.

EBOOK: Fluid Mechanics (SI units)

EBOOK: Fluid Mechanics (SI units) PDF Author: White
Publisher: McGraw Hill
ISBN: 0077190351
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 794

Book Description
Overview White's Fluid Mechanics offers students a clear and comprehensive presentation of the material that demonstrates the progression from physical concepts to engineering applications and helps students quickly see the practical importance of fluid mechanics fundamentals. The wide variety of topics gives instructors many options for their course and is a useful resource to students long after graduation. The book’s unique problem-solving approach is presented at the start of the book and carefully integrated in all examples. Students can progress from general ones to those involving design, multiple steps and computer usage. McGraw-Hill Education's Connect, is also available as an optional, add on item. Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that class time is more effective. Connect allows the professor to assign homework, quizzes, and tests easily and automatically grades and records the scores of the student's work. Problems are randomized to prevent sharing of answers an may also have a "multi-step solution" which helps move the students' learning along if they experience difficulty. The eighth edition of Fluid Mechanics offers students a clear and comprehensive presentation of the material that demonstrates the progression from physical concepts to engineering applications. Publisher: AIAA
ISBN: 9781600860478
Category : Airplanes
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
Annotation This text presents the principles of dynamics and control for vertical, short take-off landing (V/STOL) aircraft. It is the first book of its kind. It is intended for graduate students and professionals in aeronautics who have knowledge of linear systems analysis, aircraft static, dynamic stability, and control. The text begins with a discussion of V/STOL aircraft operations. Control strategies, equations of motion, longitudinal and lateral-directional flying qualities in both hover and forward flight, wind and turbulence responses, and control augmentation and cockpit displays are covered. Specific examples of the YAV-8B Harrier and XV-15 Tilt Rotor aircraft are used to illustrate actual V/STOL dynamic and control characteristics.
