Integration of Information and Optimization Models for Routing in City Logistics PDF Author: Jan Ehmke
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1461436281
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 201

Book Description
As urban congestion continues to be an ever increasing problem, routing in these settings has become an important area of operations research. This monograph provides cutting-edge research, utilizing the recent advances in technology, to quantify the value of dynamic, time-dependent information for advanced vehicle routing in city logistics. The methodology of traffic data collection is enhanced by GPS based data collection, resulting in a comprehensive number of travel time records. Data Mining is also applied to derive dynamic information models as required by time-dependent optimization. Finally, well-known approaches of vehicle routing are adapted in order to handle dynamic information models. This book interweaves the usually distinct areas of traffic data collection, information retrieval and time-dependent optimization by an integrated methodological approach, which refers to synergies of Data Mining and Operations Research techniques by example of city logistics applications. These procedures will help improve the reliability of logistics services in congested urban areas.

Network Design And Optimization For Smart Cities

Network Design And Optimization For Smart Cities PDF Author: Panos M Pardalos
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9813200022
Category : Architecture
Languages : en
Pages : 402

Book Description
This comprehensive reference text is a collection of important research findings on the latest developments in network modeling for optimization of smart cities. Such models can be used from outlining the fundamental concepts of urban development to the description and optimization of physical networks, such as power, water or telecommunications. Networks help us understand city economics and various aspects of human interactions within cities with particular applications in quality of life and the flow of people and goods. Finally, the natural environment and even the climate of cities can be modeled and managed as networks.

Soft Computing Based Optimization and Decision Models

Soft Computing Based Optimization and Decision Models PDF Author: David A. Pelta
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319642863
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 314

Book Description
This book offers a timely snapshot of current soft-computing research and solutions to decision-making and optimization problems, which are ubiquitous in the current social and technological context, addressing fields including logistics, transportation and data analysis. Written by leading international experts from the United States, Brazil and Cuba, as well as the United Kingdom, France, Finland and Spain, it discusses theoretical developments in and practical applications of soft computing in fields where these methods are crucial to obtaining better models, including: intelligent transportation systems, maritime logistics, portfolio selection, decision- making, fuzzy cognitive maps, and fault detection. The book is dedicated to Professor José L. Verdegay, a pioneer who has been actively pursuing research in fuzzy sets theory and soft computing since 1982, in honor of his 65th birthday.

Integration as Solution for Advanced Smart Urban Transport Systems

Integration as Solution for Advanced Smart Urban Transport Systems PDF Author: Grzegorz Sierpiński
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319994778
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 273

Book Description
Methods of advanced data collecting and their analysis, models which help with decision problems as well as technical solutions which improve the integrity of contemporary transport systems at urban area are only some of many problems connected with integration in passenger and freight transport which have been discussed in this book. The book expresses case study-based scientific and practical approach to the problems of contemporary transport systems. The proposed methods and models enable a system approach to assess current solutions. In turn, implementation proposals may support the improvement of the integrity of individual elements of transport systems, and thus increase its effectiveness on the global scale. With regard to the research results discussed and the selected solutions applied, the book primarily addresses the needs of three target groups: • Scientists and researchers (ITS field) • Local authorities (responsible for the transport systems at the urban and regional level) • Representatives of business (traffic strategy management) and industry (manufacturers of ITS components). This book gathers selected papers presented at the 15th Scientific and Technical Conference “Transport Systems. Theory and Practice” organised by the Department of Transport Systems and Traffic Engineering at the Faculty of Transport of the Silesian University of Technology. The conference was held in Katowice, Poland on September 17–19, 2018.

Telematics in the Transport Environment

Telematics in the Transport Environment PDF Author: Jerzy Mikulski
