Black & white print. Principles of Management is designed to meet the scope and sequence requirements of the introductory course on management. Management is a broad business discipline, and the Principles of Management course covers many management areas such as human resource management and strategic management, as well as behavioral areas such as motivation. No one individual can be an expert in all areas of management, so an additional benefit of this text is that specialists in a variety of areas have authored individual chapters.

Corporate Finance, Canadian Edition

Corporate Finance, Canadian Edition PDF Author: Jonathan Berk

Book Description
"A Canadian text should reflect Canadian realities, and show how they fit into the bigger picture. The Canadian tax system, for example, differs significantly from that of the United States regarding dividends, capital gains, capital cost allowance, leasing, and foreign subsidiary income and its taxation in the parent company. We use the relevant Canadian tax code to make the examples more realistic to students and to give them exposure to how Canadian taxation works. There are many institutional and market differences between Canada and the United States. We have incorporated information on both countries' institutions and markets and often include comparisons with other countries."--

The Globalization Paradox

The Globalization Paradox PDF Author: Dani Rodrik
Publisher: OUP Oxford
ISBN: 0191634255
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 442

Book Description
For a century, economists have driven forward the cause of globalization in financial institutions, labour markets, and trade. Yet there have been consistent warning signs that a global economy and free trade might not always be advantageous. Where are the pressure points? What could be done about them? Dani Rodrik examines the back-story from its seventeenth-century origins through the milestones of the gold standard, the Bretton Woods Agreement, and the Washington Consensus, to the present day. Although economic globalization has enabled unprecedented levels of prosperity in advanced countries and has been a boon to hundreds of millions of poor workers in China and elsewhere in Asia, it is a concept that rests on shaky pillars, he contends. Its long-term sustainability is not a given. The heart of Rodrik’s argument is a fundamental 'trilemma': that we cannot simultaneously pursue democracy, national self-determination, and economic globalization. Give too much power to governments, and you have protectionism. Give markets too much freedom, and you have an unstable world economy with little social and political support from those it is supposed to help. Rodrik argues for smart globalization, not maximum globalization.
