Book Description
This study revealed that the professional development activities in the two school districts showed similarity in intent, focus, and desired outcomes. Both districts encouraged teacher collaboration aimed at increasing student achievement through reviewing student work samples, analyzing assessment data, and sharing best practice. Analysis of the interview transcripts, observation field notes, and relevant documents revealed there was a relationship between teachers' participation in the district-wide professional development activities and enhanced classroom and collegial practice. The study provides positive examples of how teacher collaboration centered around student learning as professional development has the potential to improve teachers' instruction and increase student learning. The study's findings also have important implications for educational leaders, policy makers, and future research around teacher professional development.

Inspirational Guide for the Implementation of PRME

Inspirational Guide for the Implementation of PRME PDF Author: Alan Murray
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351279793
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 179

Book Description
Since the inception of the United Nations Global Compact sponsored initiative Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) in 2007, there has been increased debate over how to adapt management education to best meet the demands of the 21st-century business environment. While consensus has been reached by the majority of globally focused management education institutions that sustainability must be incorporated into management education curricula, the relevant question is no longer why management education should change, but _how_?Following on from the Inspirational Guide for the Implementation of PRME: Placing Sustainability at the heart of Management Education, this casebook highlights the real implementers of responsible management education, and their stories are truly inspirational. The evolving picture underscores the important changes already taking place, and the role of PRME in effecting such change. The clear message is that continuous experimentation, innovation, and learning is required to transform constructs of management education. The new collection contains 27 case stories from universities and business schools spanning Asia, Oceania, Latin America, USA and Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This important compilation will be an inspiration for all forward-thinking business schools across the world, especially those who are keen to embrace the PRME principles and put sustainability at the heart of their operations. The Guide will be launched at the 2013 PRME Summit – 5th Annual Assembly, hosted by CEEMAN in Bled, Slovenia on 25–26 September, and offered for sale in print and eBook for the first time by Greenleaf Publishing. The first edition of the Inspirational Guide for the Implementation of PRME was presented at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development: Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012.Across the PRME community, different concepts are used; most frequently are corporate (social) responsibility, responsible leadership, and sustainable value for business and society.

The Impact of School Infrastructure on Learning

The Impact of School Infrastructure on Learning PDF Author: Peter Barrett
Publisher: World Bank Publications
ISBN: 1464813787
Category : Education
Languages : en
Pages : 71

Book Description
'The Impact of School Infrastructure on Learning: A Synthesis of the Evidence provides an excellent literature review of the resources that explore the areas of focus for improved student learning, particularly the aspiration for “accessible, well-built, child-centered, synergetic and fully realized learning environments.†? Written in a style which is both clear and accessible, it is a practical reference for senior government officials and professionals involved in the planning and design of educational facilities, as well as for educators and school leaders. --Yuri Belfali, Head of Division, Early Childhood and Schools, OECD Directorate for Education and Skills This is an important and welcome addition to the surprisingly small, evidence base on the impacts of school infrastructure given the capital investment involved. It will provide policy makers, practitioners, and those who are about to commission a new build with an important and comprehensive point of reference. The emphasis on safe and healthy spaces for teaching and learning is particularly welcome. --Harry Daniels, Professor of Education, Department of Education, Oxford University, UK This report offers a useful library of recent research to support the, connection between facility quality and student outcomes. At the same time, it also points to the unmet need for research to provide verifiable and reliable information on this connection. With such evidence, decisionmakers will be better positioned to accurately balance the allocation of limited resources among the multiple competing dimensions of school policy, including the construction and maintenance of the school facility. --David Lever, K-12 Facility Planner, Former Executive Director of the Interagency Committee on School Construction, Maryland Many planners and designers are seeking a succinct body of research defining both the issues surrounding the global planning of facilities as well as the educational outcomes based on the quality of the space provided. The authors have finally brought that body of evidence together in this well-structured report. The case for better educational facilities is clearly defined and resources are succinctly identified to stimulate the dialogue to come. We should all join this conversation to further the process of globally enhancing learning-environment quality! --David Schrader, AIA, Educational Facility Planner and Designer, Former Chairman of the Board of Directors, Association for Learning Environments (A4LE)

Lead, Inspire, Thrive

Lead, Inspire, Thrive PDF Author: Fred Sanfilippo
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031411773
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 323

Book Description
This handy reference will help medical school department chairs and other Academic Health Center (AHC) leaders navigate the important, challenging and complex responsibilities and opportunities of their positions, whether they are new, experienced or future leaders. Medical school department chairs support four distinct missions (education, research, clinical care and public service), which serve multiple constituents, have different measures of success, and sometimes are in direct conflict for resources across the different priorities of their AHC and its component organizations. Having served as medical school department chairs, program and center directors, medical school deans, and AHC chief executives, the authors have seen first-hand the increasing difficulty and complexity of these roles and the inspiring impact these leaders can have on those they serve. This book shares their insights by providing contemporary and comprehensive information to help these leaders navigate the many issues and opportunities they face. While serving as a medical school department chair is challenging on many levels, it is one of the most important roles in AHCs and can be an extremely rewarding leadership position. Timely advice and guidance are keys to success, and this book articulates and answers the most common questions faced by medical school department chairs and other leaders over their careers.
