Matériel et méthodes : les brosses à dents ont eté usées par six sujets volontaires qui ont testé chacun 5 brosses à dents de chaque groupe Butler® et Fluocaril® avec leur méthode de brossage habituelle deux fois 60 minutes. Les aires de brossages et les dimensions de la surface de brossage (largeur et longueur maximales) acquises avec un système d'analyse d'images ont permis de calculer les aires calculées, le coefficient d'usure par rapport au temps initial, le coefficient d'usure mensuel et le wear index. Résultats : la précision du procédé d'analyse d'images est d'un grand intérêt pour évaluer l'usure des brosses à dents. Le calcul du coefficient d'usure mensuel correspond à la formule qui apporte le plus d'informations. En revanche, les mesures des largeur et longueur maximales sont inutiles. Conformément à l'hypothèse initiale, les brosses à dents Fluocaril® s'usent moins vite que les brosses à dents Butler®.
