William Carlos Williams and Autobiography

William Carlos Williams and Autobiography PDF Author: Ann W. Fisher-Wirth
Publisher: University Park : Pennsylvania State University Press
ISBN:
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
The artist is always and forever painting only one thing: a self portrait. Beginning with these words of Williams's, Fisher-Wirth considers a number of Williams's writings as autobiography. The relatively conventional Autobiography of William Carlos Williams presents his career in public terms and suppresses the knowledge of both sex and death. At the other extreme, the play A Dream of Love is an intensely personal confession. Apart from these works, William Carlos Williams and Autobiography concentrates on Williams's poems. The early unpublished "Philip and Oradie" sends a persecuted and alienated prince on a grandiose, doomed quest. Reacting against this mode, Williams wrote "The Wanderer" in which he is baptized in the "filthy Passaic river" and emerges as the poet we know, whose identity is found through surrendering to the "weeds, bearing seeds," the flotsam of experience. He goes on to create a new kind of autobiography, focused on concrete objects of perception and only indirectly on the self. Williams's development culminates in "Asphodel, That Greeny Flower," the long, late love poem to his wife that unites public and private autobiographical desires and is his deepest and fullest autobiography.

The Black Grimoire

The Black Grimoire PDF Author: Marlin Dujuan
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1503527255
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 144

Book Description
I’m so, so excited to be at the end of The Black Grimoire. It was extreme work to gather all the material and use it the right way for you to gain an understanding of it. This book is a magical text full of secrets being revealed. Wisdom and clarity and joy are the feelings you get when you open up The Black Grimoire. Before you open it up, make sure you are on a light, way fast, and extreme meditation. This book/grimoire is not the book you will find on a regular basis. It holds the key to the meaning of deeper knowledge of Lucifer as well as black. The Black Grimoire contains poetry, more research on melanin, Bible scriptures that you don’t see like this, the mark of Cain, and the meaning of the soul power, amino acids, and the human body. There is also more on the house of the Lord as the temple is my Lord, encounters of the deceased, opening of gateways and portals, definitions from the black law dictionary, and more definitions pertaining to the etymology of words. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it. The Black Grimoire was inspired by the Am that resides in me. The love that I have for my people has increased since the writings. And the love of writings increased. I love people who love me. Marlin Dujuan, how can I hate the man who will show me love and respect? Marlin, that will be a form of ignorance and stupidity. Wisdom just inspired me to love self and respect self (self-love). Self-love is not just loving your own culture, but it’s to love oneself as you. A person will not love his brother if he can’t love his self, and if you disagree with this, where are you living at? What world are you existing in, my brother? We’re not here to judge at all, only to love and to reveal. Love and peace to the gods!

John Ruskin, the Pre-Raphaelites, and Religious Imagination

John Ruskin, the Pre-Raphaelites, and Religious Imagination PDF Author: Sheona Beaumont
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3031215540
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 323

Book Description
This volume presents a collection of essays by leading experts which examine nineteenth century ideas about Christian theology, art, architecture, restoration, and curatorial practice. The volume unveils the importance of John Ruskin’s writing for today’s audience, and allies it with the dynamism of the Pre-Raphaelite religious imagination. Ruskin’s drawings and daguerreotypes, as well as Pre-Raphaelite paintings, stained glass, and engravings, are shown to be alive with visual theology: artists such as Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, Edward Burne-Jones, and Evelyn de Morgan illuminate aspects of faith and aesthetics. The interdisciplinary nature of this volume encourages reflection upon praise, truth, and beauty. The aesthetic conversations between Ruskin and the Pre-Raphaelites themselves become a form of ‘sacra conversazione’.
