El objetivo de este trabajo de intervención fue desarrollar un programa de habilidades sociales para los adolescentes tempranos del colegio "Los Portales del Saber" de Vitarte, con el fin de fortalecer las aptitudes y destrezas personales de los participantes y prevenir indirectamente problemas de salud mental, tales como la depresión. La investigación no experimental incluyó tres etapas de intervención. Una primera etapa para el diagnóstico situacional de la población, recopilando desde datos generales hasta específicos, esto gracias a entrevistas, cuestionarios y test. Una segunda etapa correspondió a la ejecución del programa, el cual proyectó 6 sesiones de una hora para los menores y de 30 minutos para los docentes; esto durante seis días. En la tercera etapa se evaluó a los docentes y alumnos participantes a través de pruebas seleccionadas, las mismas que fueron comparadas con los datos iniciales. Se logró entrenar al 92% de los adolescentes tempranos del CEGNE Portales del Saber de Vitarte, los cuales mejoraron en un 22.5% sus habilidades para solucionar conflictos, al proponer mayor número de alternativas a las situaciones propuestas. A la misma vez, la población en estudio mejoró en su habilidad para comunicarse asertivamente en un 12.5%. En cuanto a la autoestima, esta fue mejorada en un 17% de participantes. Finalmente, la participación voluntaria de los docentes fue en un 60% quienes fueron capacitados en temas de: promoción de la asertividad, cómo fortalecer la autoestima de los alumnos y ayudando a solucionar conflictos de los adolescentes.
