Book Description
Shale reservoirs have drawn much attention in recent years in the oil and gas industry. Hydraulic fracturing is a key technology to extract the trapped hydrocarbon in the shale reservoirs. The complex hydraulic and natural fracture networks enable large contact area between fracture and low-permeability reservoir to enhance the production. The characterization of complex fracture geometry and evaluation of fracture properties are crucial to the fracturing operation design and fractured reservoir simulation. The main approach to a better understanding of fracture and shale reservoir matrix is fracture diagnosis. There are mainly five fracture diagnostic technologies: Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS), Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS), Diagnostic Fracture Injection Test (DFIT), microseismic, and tracer flow-back test. In this study, we mainly focus on the data interpretation model of DTS and DFIT. The current interpretation of DTS data is mostly limited to the qualitative analysis. To enable the quantitative interpretation of DTS data, an in-house comprehensive model is developed to evaluate the fracture properties and geometry. Our model couples fracture, wellbore, and reservoir domain together to capture the full physical process during the production stage. The effects of reservoir parameters, fracture parameters, and fracture geometries on temperature profiling along the wellbore are analyzed with our model. Our forward model could be potentially used to characterize fracture parameters or fracture geometry with history matching. DFIT is consisted of before closure analysis and after closure analysis. The leak-off coefficient, injection efficiency, reservoir matrix permeability, and initial pore pressure can be obtained from DFIT data analysis. In this study, several models for DFIT data interpretation were integrated. A Marcellus shale gas DFIT data is successfully analyzed with our workflow.

Orthogeriatrics

Orthogeriatrics PDF Author: Paolo Falaschi
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030481263
Category : Anesthesiology
Languages : en
Pages : 355

Book Description
This new open access edition supported by the Fragility Fracture Network aims at giving the widest possible dissemination on fragility fracture (especially hip fracture) management and notably in countries where this expertise is sorely needed. It has been extensively revised and updated by the experts of this network to provide a unique and reliable content in one single volume. Throughout the book, attention is given to the difficult question of how to provide best practice in countries where the discipline of geriatric medicine is not well established and resources for secondary prevention are scarce. The revised and updated chapters on the epidemiology of hip fractures, osteoporosis, sarcopenia, surgery, anaesthesia, medical management of frailty, peri-operative complications, rehabilitation and nursing are supplemented by six new chapters. These include an overview of the multidisciplinary approach to fragility fractures and new contributions on pre-hospital care, treatment in the emergency room, falls prevention, nutrition and systems for audit. The reader will have an exhaustive overview and will gain essential, practical knowledge on how best to manage fractures in elderly patients and how to develop clinical systems that do so reliably.

Book Description
The purpose of this thesis is to apply the Promoting Action on Research Implementation in Health Services (PARiHS) framework to a provincial osteoporosis management program to describe unit level factors that may have influenced implementation among participating inpatient rehabilitation units. A toolbox of measures was proposed to operationalize the frameworks elements of evidence, context and facilitation. A cross-sectional survey was completed with clinicians responsible for championing the program and their managers. Results demonstrated that leadership behaviours, organizational climate traits and champion behaviours varied among practice environments indicating that attention to unit level factors outlined by the PARiHS framework could increase the uptake of research evidence in practice. The proposed toolbox could be utilized as a diagnostic and prescriptive tool to identify potential implementation barriers, and guide the selection of appropriate tools/strategies to overcome them. Furthermore, it will enable future studies to provide further empirical support for the PARiHS framework.

A Novel Diagnostic Fracture Injection Test Workflow Considering Natural Fractures

A Novel Diagnostic Fracture Injection Test Workflow Considering Natural Fractures PDF Author: Jonathan Bruno
Publisher:
ISBN:

Languages : en
Pages : 178

Book Description
Applications of diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) are used in unconventional reservoirs to determine reservoir characteristics for future fracture design and production. DFIT consists of creating a minifrac by pumping small amounts of water and monitoring the pressure response. The presence of natural fractures can heavily influence the pre- and post-shut in pressure data obtained from DFIT. Traditional DFIT models do not capture the complexity of hydraulic and natural fracture networks into an integrated workflow. This work uses an embedded discrete geometry simulation (EDGS) and embedded discrete fracture model (EDFM) to add natural fracture complexity into a new DFIT model. Incorporating fracture modeling tools will enhance the existing reservoir model by creating a more accurate representation of an unconventional reservoir for future development strategies. The new DFIT model workflow can capture complex natural fractures and reservoir properties for unconventional reservoirs. The pressure data from the DFIT analysis can be separated into two parts: before-closure analysis (BCA) and after-closure analysis (ACA). Past models have analyzed BCA and ACA independently, which can lead to misinterpretation. To understand the properties of an unconventional reservoir, the new DFIT model combines the BCA and ACA while including complex natural fractures into a single workflow. Data from the lower Eagle Ford formation was used to validate the model by accurately matching the same field data with the new workflow. The workflow consists of identifying random natural factures connected to the generated minifrac to observe the true pressure response during DFIT. The new DFIT model implemented hydraulic and natural fractures characterization for a more accurate representation of unconventional reservoirs. The model accurately estimates reservoir properties using a single workflow by interpreting the pressure data coherently. A comparison between the traditional DFIT model and the new integrated model shows that traditional DFIT model may overestimate the true reservoir characteristics. The results from the new DFIT model workflow show that the reservoirs' complexity can be captured. The pressure fall response can be estimated using the new DFIT workflow. The new DFIT model gave a better representation of an unconventional reservoir to determine the reservoirs characteristics and geomechanics for future fracture designs

Bone Health and Osteoporosis

Bone Health and Osteoporosis PDF Author: United States Public Health Service
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781410219275
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
This first-ever Surgeon General's Report on bone health and osteoporosis illustrates the large burden that bone disease places on our Nation and its citizens. Like other chronic diseases that disproportionately affect the elderly, the prevalence of bone disease and fractures is projected to increase markedly as the population ages. If these predictions come true, bone disease and fractures will have a tremendous negative impact on the future well-being of Americans. But as this report makes clear, they need not come true: by working together we can change the picture of aging in America. Osteoporosis, fractures, and other chronic diseases no longer should be thought of as an inevitable part of growing old. By focusing on prevention and lifestyle changes, including physical activity and nutrition, as well as early diagnosis and appropriate treatment, Americans can avoid much of the damaging impact of bone disease and other chronic diseases. This Surgeon General's Report brings together for the first time the scientific evidence related to the prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of bone disease. More importantly, it provides a framework for moving forward. The report will be another effective tool in educating Americans about how they can promote bone health throughout their lives. This first-ever Surgeon General's Report on bone health and osteoporosis provides much needed information on bone health, an often overlooked aspect of physical health. This report follows in the tradition of previous Surgeon Generals' reports by identifying the relevant scientific data, rigorously evaluating and summarizing the evidence, and determining conclusions.
