Book Description
When Jeremy Lin began to knock down shots for the New York Knicks in 2012, many Americans became aware for the first time that Asian Americans actually play basketball. Growing Up in a Hutterite Colony

Growing Up in a Hutterite Colony PDF Author: Peter Tschetter
Publisher: Trafford Publishing
ISBN: 1466948426
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 84

Book Description
The writing of this book is for several reasons: one of which is an attempt to clarify to young Hutterites and also non-Hutterites how different we lived seventy-five years ago. I had an eventful childhood, which the readers may compare with their own. To compile a detailed account of colony life and history would be an extensive undertaking. So the reader will have to be content with the few details I've presented which are relevant to my growing-up experience. Most events which include other people are mentioned, because they are somehow intertwined in my experience. Also, I want to bring the Hutterites closer to an intense awareness that all is not well and the solution is not in buying more land or buildings more livestock and poultry barns. There are needs which can only be met by a closer walk with God. Do I want to denounce colony life? No! But I have brought attention to some dangerous bumps in the road, which needs to be addressed in order to reverse the existing spiral. If the needed improvements are ignored, the results are predictable. If a conscious effort is not made to remedy the existing condition with scriptural guidelines, the results are predictable.

Book Description
My summer in Tokyo just got a lot hotter... Getting a real-life chance with your old high school crush doesn’t happen every day. But then Finn O’Leary lends me five dollars and says I can buy him a coffee sometime to pay him back. I don’t expect to be buying him coffee in Tokyo. That’s what happens when your dad takes a job in Japan and drags you along for summer break. If I’d known Finn would be there, too, I’d have been thrilled, not resentful. Next thing I know, we’re exploring the temples and tangled streets of Tokyo together - sharing painful truths about my dead mother and his sketchy past. But the biggest surprise? Finn doesn’t think he deserves me. Even as we get close, he holds back, while I fall faster than a penny dropped from the top of Tokyo Tower. Unless I can convince him to see himself the way I see him, my heart is going to get crushed.
