Intelligent Autonomous Systems 6

Intelligent Autonomous Systems 6 PDF Author: Enrico Pagello
Publisher: IOS Press
ISBN: 9781586030780
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 1128

Book Description
After a long period, in which the research focused mainly on industrial robotics, nowadays scientists aim to build machines able to act autonomously in unstructured domains, and to interface friendly with humans, while performing intelligently their assigned tasks. Such intelligent autonomous systems are now being intensively developed, and are ready to be applied to every field, from social life to modern enterprises. We believe the following years will be increasingly characterised by their extensive use. This is dramatically changing the whole scenario of human society.

Control and Mechatronics

Control and Mechatronics PDF Author: Bodgan Wilamowski
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1351834290
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 763

Book Description
The Industrial Electronics Handbook, Second Edition combines traditional and newer, more specialized knowledge that will help industrial electronics engineers develop practical solutions for the design and implementation of high-power applications. Embracing the broad technological scope of the field, this collection explores fundamental areas, including analog and digital circuits, electronics, electromagnetic machines, signal processing, and industrial control and communications systems. It also facilitates the use of intelligent systems—such as neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary methods—in terms of a hierarchical structure that makes factory control and supervision more efficient by addressing the needs of all production components. Enhancing its value, this fully updated collection presents research and global trends as published in the IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics Journal, one of the largest and most respected publications in the field. Control and Mechatronics presents concepts of control theory in a way that makes them easily understandable and practically useful for engineers or students working with control system applications. Focusing more on practical applications than on mathematics, this book avoids typical theorems and proofs and instead uses plain language and useful examples to: Concentrate on control system analysis and design, comparing various techniques Cover estimation, observation, and identification of the objects to be controlled—to ensure accurate system models before production Explore the various aspects of robotics and mechatronics Other volumes in the set: Fundamentals of Industrial Electronics Power Electronics and Motor Drives Industrial Communication Systems Intelligent Systems

Natural Language Processing and Information Systems

Natural Language Processing and Information Systems PDF Author: Mokrane Bouzeghoub
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540453997
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 383

Book Description
This book includes the papers presented at the fifth International Conference on Application of Natural Language to Information Systems (NLDB 2000) which was held in Versailles (France) on June 28-30. Following NLDB95 in Versailles, NLDB96 i n Amsterdam, NLDB97 i n Vancouver, and NLDB99 i n Klagenfurt, NLDB 2000 was a forum for exchanging new research results and trends on the benefits of integrating Natural Language resources in Information System Engineering. Since the first NLDB workshop in 1995 it has become apparent that each aspect of an information system life cycle may be improved by natural language techniques: database design (specification, validation, conflict resolution), database query languages, and application programming that use new software engineering research (natural language program specifications). As information systems are now evolving into the communication area, the term databases should be considered in the broader sense of information and communication systems. The main new trend in NLDB 2000 is related to the WEB wave: WEB querying, WEB answering, and information retrieval. Among 47 papers submitted from 18 countries, the program committee selected 29 papers to be presented during the conference. Besides these regular papers, two invited talks (given by Pr. Reind P. van de Riet and Pr. Maurice Gross), and a set of posters and demonstrations are also included in these proceedings.

E-Commerce Agents

E-Commerce Agents PDF Author: Jimingx Liu
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540453709
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 383

Book Description
Among the many changes brought by the Internet is the emergence of electronic commerce over the Web. E-commerce activities, such as the online exchange of information, services, and products, are opening up completely new opportunities for business, at new levels of productivity and profitability. In parallel with the emergence of e-commerce, intelligent software agents as entities capable of independent action in open, unpredictable environments have matured into a promising new technology. Quite naturally, e-commerce agents hold great promise for exploiting the Internet's full potential as an electronic marketplace. The 20 coherently written chapters in this book by leading researchers and professionals present the state of the art in agent-mediated e-commerce. Researchers, professionals, and advanced students interested in e-commerce or agent technology will find this book an indispensable source of information and reference.
