En identification estimative, le rôle de l'expert sera d'estimer l'âge, le sexe et la population de l'individu inconnu, à partir d'indices cranio-faciaux et dentaires, permettant ainsi de diminuer le champ de recherches. Nous allons ainsi décrire dans les différentes parties de ce travail le champ d'action et les préoccupations de l'odontologie médico légale spécifiquement à l'identification estimative. Nous nous intéresserons ensuite à l'appréciation des différents critères odontologiques nécessaire à l'identification estimative.
