Book Description
A young adult /adult fiction that is told from a young girls perspective and imagination that takes us away on an unforgettable journey. It weaves two stories, one of a family's experience with keeping a loved one in their home while moving through the dying process with the help of Hospice. It is also a story of a Grandmother and her grand-daughters journey into another world where birds are their twin souls who journey with them throughout life in so many subtle ways. I am really excited about this story and feel it came from my heart with the hope it can find a place of healing for anyone going through the loss of a loved one. However, it focuses on a child's interpretation that brings an element of fantasy and adventure into their journey into life's final months. It is also written as a resource to how Hospice Care can help a whole new way of experiencing the dying and letting go process of our beloveds with dignity. It also gives a great deal of honor to birds with both a scientific as well as symbolic information about these particular characters, who as I said before are twin souls, our reflections. The book has been a collaborative effort by my niece, who has beautifully illustrated the story, my mothers own enthusiasm and her great desire that we create this story, and my burning desire to put this story to page. Life and Death is our whole journey and this book intends to express the joy and the sorrow that weave together to make our lives worthy of celebration from start to finish.

Our Heartbreaking Choices

Our Heartbreaking Choices PDF Author: Christie Brooks
Publisher: iUniverse
ISBN: 9780595631001
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 422

Book Description
This book is about abortion, but more specifically, about abortions sought due to a poor prenatal diagnosis or due to serious maternal health complications. This book contains 46 personal stories, each one from a woman who decided to interrupt a much-wanted and oftentimes much-planned pregnancy. There is very little societal support for parents who make this decision, which leaves most parents to deal with their sadness and grief alone. The purpose of the book is to share our stories in the hopes of helping other parents who have undergone a similar loss to feel less alone, less isolated, and less stigmatized. We hope to give a voice to all who have suffered a similar loss and to show that there are situations in which abortion is the most moral option. Although the focus of the book is to provide support to those who will make or have made a similar decision, we don't cast judgment on those who choose abortion for other reasons or those who choose to carry a pregnancy to term despite a poor prenatal diagnosis. We support all parents in choosing the path that is best for them. We support ALL choices.

In her book, Trena Cole describes the methods of intimidation and isolcation used to prevent the childen from seekigng help. It also describes how, since their extended family practiced the same type of abusive behavior, the children assumed the whole world lived this way. While these parents may have been reported as potential child abusers, they were never charged or prosecuted despite the sadistic torture they inflicted on their young children. Trena became the parental role model, nurturer and caretaker for the younger children from a very young age, never having anyone to nurture or care for her, and learned to dissociate to survive the chaos. The language is raw, ugly and harsh, just as it was screamed at the children until they were able to escape the madness.
