Book Description
Excerpt from Hydrometallurgy of Silver: With Special Reference to Chloridizing Roasting of Silver Ores and the Extraction of Silver by Hyposulphite and Cyanide Solutions The silver ores which are treated by a hydrometallurgical process are mostly complex sulphide ores consisting of quite a number of different metal sulphides. In order to render soluble the silver contained therein the ore is roasted with an addition of salt (chloridizing roasting), by which process the silver is converted into silver chloride. In this chemical reaction, how ever, all or nearly all the constituent minerals of the ore partici pate, which makes the process rather complicated and we may even say delicate, because the formed metal chlorides are volatile and induce the silver chloride to volatilize too, and in order to keep this loss at the minimum great care and skill are required. ISBN: 9781536122060
Category : Hydrometallurgy

Pages : 0

Book Description
The main impression of this book is to draw attention to the most advance technologies in silver recovery and recycling from various sources. The state-of-the-art in silver recovery from different sources by hydrometallurgical and bio-metallurgical processing, and varieties of leaching, cementing, reducing agents, peeling, electro-coagulants, adsorbents, electro-dialysis, solvent extraction, ion exchange resins and bio-sorbents are highlighted in this book. It is shown that the major economic driver for the recycling of depleted sources is for the recovery of silver. In order to develop a nature-friendly technique for the recovery of silver from diverse sources, a critical comparison of existing technologies is analysed for both economic viability and environmental impact were made in this amendment, and silver ion toxicity is highlighted in this book. This book comprises four chapters, each of which is further divided into sections and subsections for the proper convenience and understanding of the work, though extensive work has been reported on silver hydrometallurgy.

Silver Recovery From Assorted Spent Sources: Toxicology Of Silver Ions PDF Author: Syed Sabir
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 1786344599
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 365

Book Description
Silver holds three world records; it has the lowest contact resistance, highest electrical conductivity and the best thermal conductivity of all metals. The element's physical strength, brilliance and malleability leads to its many uses from electronics to optical applications.A new 'silver rush' has occurred following the recent discovery that silver, when divided to form particles at the nano scale, can take on new properties. Meanwhile, there has been an increase in regulations against environmental pollution of silver ions toxicity, which have caused numerous diseases and disorders in the marine, microbial, invertebrate and vertebrate community (including humans). Both of which have led to a great interest in silver recovery for both environmental toxicity and an economic point of view.Comprised of ten chapters, this book draws attention to the most advance technologies in silver recovery and recycling from various spent sources, which will appeal to research scientists and metallurgists. The state of the art in recovery of silver from different sources by hydrometallurgical and bio-metallurgical processing and varieties of leaching, cementing, reducing agents, adsorbents, and bio-sorbents are highlighted in this book.
