Wastewater Hydraulics

Wastewater Hydraulics PDF Author: Willi H. Hager
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642113834
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 660

Book Description
The second, enlarged edition of this established reference integrates many new insights into wastewater hydraulics. This work serves as a reference for researchers but also is a basis for practicing engineers. It can be used as a text book for graduate students, although it has the characteristics of a reference book. It addresses mainly the sewer hydraulician but also general hydraulic engineers who have to tackle many a problem in daily life, and who will not always find an appropriate solution. Each chapter is introduced with a summary to outline the contents. To illustrate application of the theory, examples are presented to explain the computational procedures. Further, to relate present knowledge to the history of hydraulics, some key dates on noteworthy hydraulicians are quoted. A historical note on the development of wastewater hydraulics is also added. References are given at the end of each chapter, and they are often helpful starting points for further reading. Each notation is defined when introduced, and listed alphabetically at the end of each chapter. This new edition includes in particular sideweirs with throttling pipes, drop shafts with an account on the two-phase flow features, as well as conduit choking due to direct or undular hydraulic jumps.

Hydrology and Storm Sewer Design

Hydrology and Storm Sewer Design PDF Author: Gautham P. Das
Publisher: Momentum Press
ISBN: 1945612339
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 163

Book Description
Hydrology and Storm Sewer Design includes fundamentals of hydrology and design aspects of various hydraulic engineering devices such as culverts, catch basins, and manholes. This book includes the fundamentals of hydrology, open-channel flow, design of culverts, and overall layout of storm sewers. The author illustrates the use of various methods employed by government agencies for the design of storm sewer appurtenances and devices to effectively drain rural and urban areas subjected to various storm systems.

Additional Tables for the Hydraulic Design of Pipes, Sewers and Channels

Additional Tables for the Hydraulic Design of Pipes, Sewers and Channels PDF Author: D. I. H. Barr
Publisher: Thomas Telford
ISBN: 0727716670
Category : Channels (Hydraulic engineering)
Languages : en
Pages : 248

Book Description
The aim of these tables is to overcome limitations in the existing Hydraulics Research "Tables for the Hydraulic Design of Pipes and Sewers". The current edition of the tables is limited to pipe diameters of two metres and to a couple of pipe shapes. The additional tables which are designed to be used in conjunction with the existing 5th edition of "Tables for the Hydraulic Design of Pipes and Sewers" would extend the diameter to 20m. New interpolation procedures for part-full pipes and pipes of other cross-sectional shapes, other than circular and one particular form of egg-shape can be determined.

Reliability and Uncertainty Analyses in Hydraulic Design

Reliability and Uncertainty Analyses in Hydraulic Design PDF Author: Ben Chie Yen
Publisher: ASCE Publications
ISBN: 9780784475928
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 306

Book Description
Prepared by the Subcommittee on Uncertainty and Reliability Analyses in Design of Hydraulic Structures of the Technical Committee on Probabilistic Approaches to Hydraulics of ASCE. This report contains 13 papers presenting the application of reliability analysis to the design and safety of hydraulic structures. Several recent major failures of engineering systems have raised public concern on the safety and reliability of engineering struct.ures. Decades ago, a quantitative evaluation of the reliability of structures was not possible and engineers used safety factors that were determined mainly through experience and judgement. Recent advances in probability methods and computers make it feasible to evaluate the contributions of various technologic and natural factors to the safety and reliability of structures.Ă˜The first four papers in this report discuss techniques pertinent to reliability and uncertainty analyses. The next nine papers explore how these techniques can be applied to dam safety, coastal floods, and hydraulic structures. The report concludes with a reprint of an article by Vrijling on the Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier of the Delta Project in the Netherlands and the use of reliability analysis for sewer design.
