Humans of San Antonio, the book, is the culmination of more than four years of photographs that highlight the people, culture, and vibrancy of San Antonio. Michael Cirlos's photography captures individual storytelling images in an unassuming, unscripted way to illustrate the essence of humanity. This is the first general history of San Antonio, Texas, the seventh largest city in the nation. Its past is complex and ranges across 300 years, from the community’s origins as a tiny Spanish frontier town to its contemporary status as a vital American mega-city. By 1850, the frontier settlement of San Antonio had seen more than its share of hardships, Indians attacks, rebellions, and repeated military occupations. These events all marked the towns recent past.
