House Unauthorized

House Unauthorized PDF Author: Leah Wilson
Publisher: BenBella Books, Inc.
ISBN: 1935251627
Category : Performing Arts
Languages : en
Pages : 264

Book Description
What do you get when you combine CSI science, the medicine of ER, and an acerbic, pain pill addict with a cane? House MD. In House Unauthorized: Vasculitis, Clinic Duty, and Bad Bedside Manner, the entire cast of the show is on the exam table: Wilson, Cuddy, Foreman, Cameron, Chase and particularly the cantankerous, but brilliant Dr. House. What makes House tick? Why did he really hire Foreman, Cameron and Chase (and why is it so easy to believe he's actually subjecting them to some sort of bizarre psychological testing)? What would House be like as a heating and plumbing repairman? And why doesn't Wilson just stop talking to him already? Answers to these questions are presented by a team of writers as talented as the team of doctors in House, MD. The prognosis? One heck of a good read.

Authorizing Policy

Authorizing Policy PDF Author: Thad E. Hall
Publisher: Ohio State University Press
ISBN: 0814209726
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 161

Book Description
"This book examines how short-term authorizations create periods of policy stability, when implementation can occur, by allowing policies to be reconsidered only when an authorization expires. This simple procedural mechanism allows Congress to state when certain aspects of a law - such as authorizations of appropriations - will expire. By doing this, Congress creates a schedule for when a given policy will be considered and systematically steers the management of public programs by changing the resources and tools available to policy implementers."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Supremely Political

Supremely Political PDF Author: John Massaro
Publisher: SUNY Press
ISBN: 9780791403013
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 290

Book Description
Drawing upon revealing and generally unpublished presidential papers associated with Lyndon Johnson's ill-fated nomination of Abe Fortas, and Richard Nixon's failed designations of Clement F. Haynsworth and G. Harrold Carswell, and culminating in a lively investigation of the Bork and Ginsburg cases, the author convincingly demonstrates that the Senate's negative actions can be traced to the exciting interplay of three factors. The author demonstrates that these decisions are based not only upon the nominee's ideology and the timing of the nomination, but also on the president's management of the confirmation process. He vividly illustrates that most failed nominations can be attributed to unwise choices, disastrous miscalculations, and outright blunders made by the presidents during the confirmation process. While other scholars have explained unsuccessful nominations by employing the factors of ideology and timing, the author breaks new and fertile ground in highlighting the role of presidential management in his explanation.
