Book Description
Excerpt from Homely Thoughts on the Method of Spiritual Science, as Applied to the Revelation of Saint John This series of pamphlets may be conceived as dealing with important questions, ina homely way, that at the present time are receiving attention in the realms of science, philosophy and religion. They are said to be homely because they try to express new, forms Of truth, from the standpoint of spiritual development, which cannot be included within the narrow theory of physical evolution. They can be considered as germs of living thought, and as germinal in their order. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description
Excerpt from Homely Thoughts on the Way to Peace by Experience, Science, Philosophy and Religion It is Well to follow up thoughts on The Great War by a study of the way that leads to peace. What thoughtful men are 'feeling more and more intensely is, that ambition, pride of power, envy, hatred, malice, death and destruction, are out of place in this world where men ought to live in peace and amity. Moral and spiritual thinkers feel that they cannot fully express their antagonism to the present conditions that exist throughout the world. What they feel is that Experience, Science, Philosophy and Religion are outraged by such a state of affairs that they ought to be condemned as immoral, and unreasonable, in the sight of God and men. Experience proves that it is right, good and wise to reverence, obey and love God, as He has been revealed to men in Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Science teaches that in all realms of truth there is Divine order it is the privilege, and the duty of men, to study and realise the order that exists throughout the universe. Philosophy, as wisdom, proves that Nature, Man and the Universe are under law therefore, Wise men see that in all realms of life, it is their duty to conform to, and obey, law, as Divine. Religion shows clearly that man's great need is to turn from every evil way; to repent because of evil done in the past, and, to seek, and find, the way of reconciliation, peace, grace, and love through Jesus Christ. If men do not care to realise what these truths mean, this would tend to show that they do not revere or love God and, they do not desire to know His will as revealed in Nature, in Man, and in Christ, by the teaching of the Divine Spirit of truth. Continued disobedience, the want of conformity to Divine Law, is moral death it is unreasonable and wrong, thus the results must work out in chaos of thought, in strife, hatred, war and death. It is full time to realise that God, in His Love, and Christ in His Grace, have revealed to men the Way of Peace by Regeneration, Salvation, Redemption and Restoration. To reject this Revelation is to sin against Love it is to court, and deserve, condemnation. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Grace in Tension

Grace in Tension PDF Author: Claire McGarry
Publisher: Our Sunday Visitor

Category : Religion

Pages : 112

Book Description
We all face stress and tension in our daily lives. We might even wonder why our God of abundant goodness doesn’t remove the everyday struggles we face. Jesus’ interactions with Martha and Mary in the Gospel provide us the key to understanding how God shows us his love by allowing tensions in our lives. As we follow the sisters’ transformative journeys through their own struggles, reflecting on what transpires between Scripture verses, we see their initial tension become the catalyst that drives both Mary and Martha to the feet of Jesus — the place where all discover peace. Grace in Tension explores the areas where stress arises in our own lives. Each chapter ends with a thought-provoking prayer to inspire us to go to God with our problems, followed by questions for reflection to help us see all the ways he’s working for our good. God doesn’t create any of it, but he does show up amid life’s difficulties, ready to lead us through. No matter how big or small our struggle, when we seek him out, he reveals what we need to do to resolve our tension, transforming it into grace.
