As aides need training, you can make as many copies as you want - there's no restriction when used with aides assigned from your office location. Remember that Home Health Aides must have 12 hours of in-service training every year. LESSON OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this program, the home health aide will be able to: Identify three situations in which hand hygiene is important Describe two types of products that work best to clean hands, and Explain two principles of hand hygiene OVERVIEW According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), "clean hands are the single most important factor in preventing the spread of dangerous germs." In fact, failing to perform appropriate hand hygiene is the leading cause of health care associated infections and the spread of multi-resistant organisms, and is a substantial contributor to outbreaks. Studies show that the behavior of health care staff plays a major role in their hand hygiene compliance. Fortunately, even if staff are nonchalant about hand hygiene, behaviors can change once they learn proper techniques and see how their actions can positively affect outcomes. This in-service focuses on providing home health aides with information and guidance to help them understand the reasons for and the effects of good hand hygiene
