American Restoration

American Restoration PDF Author: Bruce D Abramson

ISBN:

Languages : en
Pages : 304

Book Description
We want our country back. A nefarious ideological movement called "progressivism" has seized control of American culture, rejected American morality, deconstructed American language, and debased American law. What we're fighting is neither a political battle nor a culture war. It's a moral struggle with cultural and political dimensions. The chasm dividing America from progressivism is stark: -America is colorblind; progressivism is racist.-America embraces new Americans; progressivism holds all Americans in contempt.-The American God has Judeo-Christian roots; progressivism worships pure ego.-America is philosemitic; progressivism is deeply antisemitic.-America is proud of its Christian heritage; progressivism distrusts all who have taken Christ into their lives.-America welcomes Muslims who share the American dream; progressivism promotes Islamism.-America is rational and scientific; progressivism is utopian and fantastic.-America embraces faith, community, and civil society; progressivism trusts only in government.-America worships freedom; progressivism promotes thought control.-America believes the best societies arise through interactions among free people making free choices; progressivism relies upon enlightened elite opinion to dictate the rules of society.-America touts its freedom of religion; progressivism grudgingly tolerates freedom of worship.-Israel is American; the EU is progressive.-America is good; progressivism is evil. And those are just selected headlines. What can we do about it? We have only two choices: We can let go of America or we can defeat progressivism. Restorationism is a movement committed to the fight. American Restoration maps out a battle plan for American restorationism. Its discussions drive toward one or more of the four points critical to restoring America-or, to coopt a memorable phrase, to Make America Great Again! Remember Who We Are: We Are Americans!Know the Enemy: The ideology known as Progressivism seeks to undermine our morality-and our sanity.Recognize the Weapons Deployed Against Us: Deconstruction, Fabrication, and Projection-or lies, lies, lies.Master the Arsenal of Defense & Counterattack: Definition, Examination, and Reflection-call them out on their lies. That's it. That's the grand strategy. Deploy it, and we win. We reclaim our great American nation. We restore our shining city on a hill. Continue as we've been going, and all bets are off.Read here to learn how to win this Second American Civil War.

Book Description
Andrew Fuller (1754-1815) was the leading Baptist theologian of his era, though his works are just now being made available in a critical edition. Strictures on Sandemanianism is the fourth volume in The Works of Andrew Fuller. In this treatise, Fuller critiqued Sandemanianism, a form of Restorationism that first emerged in Scotland in the eighteenth century and was influencing the Scotch Baptists of Fuller's day. Fuller's biggest concern was the Sandemanian belief that saving faith is merely intellectual assent to the gospel. Fuller believed this "intellectualist" view of faith undermined evangelical spirituality. Strictures on Sandemanianism became a leading evangelical critique of Sandemanian views. This critical edition will introduce scholars to this important work and shed light on evangelical debates about the faith, justification, and sanctification during the latter half of the "long" eighteenth century (ca. 1750 to 1815).

Restoration and Philosophy

Restoration and Philosophy PDF Author: J. Caleb Clanton
Publisher: Univ Tennessee Press
ISBN: 9781621903918
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages :

Book Description
A product of the Second Great Awakening of the nineteenth century, the Stone-Campbell Restoration Movement gave rise to such denominations as the Church of Christ (a cappella), the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the independent Christian Churches/ Churches of Christ. While scholars have examined many of the historical, ecclesial, socio-cultural, and biographical dimensions of this indigenously American religious tradition, few have singled it out for philosophical exploration and critique. In Restoration and Philosophy, editor J. Caleb Clanton and a team of philosophers engage with the Stone-Campbell Restoration tradition to address issues related to epistemology, philosophy of science, philosophy of religion, moral philosophy, aesthetics, environmentalism, and race. Along the way, the authors help to contextualize the Stone- Campbell Restoration tradition within American religious history--and within Christian philosophy more generally--and they show its continuing relevance today. Scholars and students of philosophy and religious studies, as as well as ministers and those interested in this uniquely American Christian tradition, will benefit from this carefully edited, thoroughly researched, and highly readable collection of essays by eminent philosophers and religious scholars. J. CALEB CLANTON is University Research Professor and professor of philosophy at Lipscomb University in Nashville. His previous books include Philosophy of Religion in the Classical American Tradition and The Philosophy of Religion of Alexander Campbell.

Book Description
From the Preface: "Did Churches of Christ really begin as a unity movement? Why didn't I know that?" "You mean we used to be called Disciples of Christ? I thought that was just another denomination." "Churches of Christ today believe and practice the same things we have from the beginning, don't we?" Statements like these by members of Churches of Christ reflect a serious lack of knowledge of our past and an increasing desire by many to know more of their heritage. This desire has led us to believe there is a need for a brief account of the history of Churches of Christ. This book hopes to serve newcomers and even long-time members of the church by giving them insights into our heritage. It also is an introduction to this significant group of churches for those unfamiliar with its place in American Christianity.

The World of Antebellum America

The World of Antebellum America PDF Author: Alexandra Kindell
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing USA
ISBN:
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 840

Book Description
This set provides insight into the lives of ordinary Americans free and enslaved, in farms and cities, in the North and the South, who lived during the years of 1815 to 1860. Throughout the Antebellum Era resonated the theme of change: migration, urban growth, the economy, and the growing divide between North and South all led to great changes to which Americans had to respond. By gathering the important aspects of antebellum Americans' lives into an encyclopedia, The World of Antebellum America provides readers with the opportunity to understand how people across America lived and worked, what politics meant to them, and how they shaped or were shaped by economics. Entries on simple topics such as bread and biscuits explore workers' need for calories, the role of agriculture, and gendered divisions of labor, while entries on more complex topics, such as aging and death, disclose Americans' feelings about life itself. Collectively, the entries pull the reader into the lives of ordinary Americans, while section introductions tie together the entries and provide an overarching narrative that primes readers to understand key concepts about antebellum America before delving into Americans' lives in detail.
