Book Description
The book HIS MERCY PREVIELD: MY STORY, MY MISSION, is an exceptional and timely one born of a rare but humbling deep personal spiritual experiences that lasted more than two decades of suffering, pain, sorrow, passion and agony. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me (Psalm 32:4), yet God’s mercy prevailed. In sharing the privileged and humbling journey with the Crucified Jesus, the book offers hope to all in the verge of despair, that with trust in God, most assuredly there is light at the end of the tunnel. Keeping hope live is the antidote against despair. Yes, “weeping (sorrow) may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Psalm 30:5). It profoundly elucidates the fact that sometimes, our present sufferings and pains might be means God is using to purify us, prepare and equip his chosen for a future full of hope and above all for our salvation. Every condition no matter how bad it seems to appear has an expiration date and therefore, the book encourages us in all our destress, that God still holds us in his merciful hands. It very eloquently states that no matter how ugly the situations we face look, that is not all there is about them. The problems don’t tell the whole story. The uncompromising and inevitable truth remains that there will be a rainbow after the storm. Thus, “for I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11).

The real-life stories of five courageous African-American women of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences, trusting in God's strength and love. Each story is told to share their experiences, and to encourage and strengthen others. As current executives of Take Your Sister 2 Lunch--a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City, the ladies were inspired upon creating the title of their book from the inspirational song, "Blessed Assurance," a popular spiritual hymn. Under the guidance and tutelage of the TYS2L CEO, Dr. Dianna Anderson, JD, the ladies graciously came together to tell their personal stories in the hopes of providing wisdom, encouragement, strength, and self-love to women all over the world. It was God's love and mercy that gave them the strength and courage to survive and gain wisdom from each experience. Their unique experiences reveal His genuine love, mercy, and existence in each of their lives. So now, by a common thread through their own personal stories, which were destined to be told and shared, created an even stronger bond between them. There's healing in telling your story--for you and others! Speak up, speak out...speak!

Somewhere I Have Never Travelled
Author: Thomas Van Nortwick
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0195356411
Category : Literary Criticism
Languages : en
Pages : 221
Book Description
The ancient hero's quest for glory offers metaphors for our own struggles to reach personal integrity and wholeness. In this compelling book, Van Nortwick traces the heroic journeys in three seminal works of ancient epic poetry, The Epic of Gilgamesh, Homer's Iliad, and Virgil's Aeneid. In particular, he focuses on the relationship of the hero to one or more second selves, or alter egos, showing how the poems address central truths about the cost of heroic self-assertion: that the pursuit of glory can lead to alienation from one's own deepest self, and that spiritual wholeness can only be achieved by confronting what appears, at first, to be the very negation of that self. With his unique combination of literary, psychological, and spiritual insights, Van Nortwick demonstrates the relevance of ancient literature to enduring human problems and to contemporary issues. Somewhere I Have never Travelled will interest anyone who wishes to explore the roots of human behavior and the relationship between life and art.
