The difficulties that I met have been largely eased by the kindness of Mr. Otto Heidemann, and especially valuable has been his help in the Capsidm, placing in my hands some of his manuscript notes. No order of American insects has been so largely con trolled by Europeans as the Heteroptera. Not only have they described most of our species, but these descriptions are often in societies little known to American entomologist, and almost none of them in entomological journals. Volume after volume of our entomological journals is issued without a single article on Heteroptera, and when one is found it is short, or only a list of names, It is hoped that this cata logue will encourage entomologists to devote more time to this order, so that our forms will be better known to us. Excerpt from Hemiptera Amnesias weicht von den brigen Gattungen durch das sehr kurze zweite Fhlerglied, welches nur den vierten Theil der Lange des dritten hat unddick und keulenfrmig ist, ferner durch den in der Mitte stark gez'zthntcn Kopfrand, so wie durch den vorhandenen Schlussrand (commissur) der Halbdecken ab. In Bezug dieser Gattung ist mir nicht begreiflich, wie Dallas in der List Hein. Pag. 110 in der Table of Genera die Fhler f.nfgliederig angeben kann, da er doch. Einige Seiten spter, bei der Beschreibung dieser Gattung anfhrt dass sein beschriebenes l'zidirtes Exemplar nur mehr drei Fhlerglieder hat, _se wie er auch in der Abbildung die Fhler u-nausgefhrt lsst. Das k. K. Zoologische Museum in Wien besitzt ein Exemplar dieser Gattung, welchem aber die Fhler und Vorderbeine fehlen. Ich besitze in meiner Sammlung zwei Exemplare (eines von Dr. Signoret und eines von Herrn Riehl); beide stimr'nen auch ganz gut mit der Beschreibung von Magoa berein, nur die Fhler des einen'exemplares (dem andern fehlen sie) weichen davon ab. Bei sorgfltiger Untersuchung sehe ich vier Glieder, wobei ich aber trotz aller Mhe, die ich mir gegeben habe, nicht ermitteln kann. Ob das fnfte Glied etwa verloren gegangen sei. Das erste Glied ist deutlich abgegrenzt, von den drei folgenden erweist sich das zweite als das kleinste. Ich habe Verdacht, dass diese zwei Exemplare doch zu Magen. Geboren, dass Dr. Stl das zweite und dritte Glied als eines betrachtet hat und dass noch ein fnftes Fhlerglied vorkmmt.
