Heavy Quarks at Fixed Target

Heavy Quarks at Fixed Target PDF Author: Harry W.K. Cheung
Publisher: American Institute of Physics
ISBN:
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 556

Book Description
This conference provided a comprehensive overview of the areas where fixed target experiments made significant contributions so that experimenters could see what work was left to be done. Since experiments at colliders contribute strongly in many of these areas, the participation of collider experimenters was welcomed and this edition of the conference contains many contributions from the collider community. In order to try to cover the huge amount of physics included in studies of heavy quarks, many of the contributions are review types, including both theoretical and experimental overviews in seven different areas: CP violation and mixing; heavy ions; production dynamics and structure functions; hadronic decays; semileptonic and leptonic decays; spectroscopy; and rare and forbidden decays. This volume is divided into these seven areas of interest.

Quantum Chromodynamics at High Energy

Quantum Chromodynamics at High Energy PDF Author: Yuri V. Kovchegov
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139560131
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 351

Book Description
Filling a gap in the current literature, this book is the first entirely dedicated to high energy quantum chromodynamics (QCD) including parton saturation and the color glass condensate (CGC). It presents groundbreaking progress on the subject and describes many problems at the forefront of research, bringing postgraduate students, theorists and interested experimentalists up to date with the current state of research in this field. The material is presented in a pedagogical way, with numerous examples and exercises. Discussion ranges from the quasi-classical McLerran–Venugopalan model to the linear BFKL and nonlinear BK/JIMWLK small-x evolution equations. The authors adopt both a theoretical and an experimental outlook, and present the physics of strong interactions in a universal way, making it useful for physicists from various subcommunities of high energy and nuclear physics, and applicable to processes studied at all high energy accelerators around the world. The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon

The Anomalous Magnetic Moment of the Muon PDF Author: Fred Jegerlehner
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3540726330
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 433

Book Description
This book reviews the present state of knowledge of the anomalous magnetic moment a=(g-2)/2 of the muon. The muon anomalous magnetic moment is one of the most precisely measured quantities in elementary particle physics and provides one of the most stringent tests of relativistic quantum field theory as a fundamental theoretical framework. It allows for an extremely precise check of the standard model of elementary particles and of its limitations.

Multiple Parton Interactions At The Lhc

Multiple Parton Interactions At The Lhc PDF Author: Paolo Bartalini
Publisher: World Scientific Publishing
ISBN: 981322777X
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 471

Book Description
Many high-energy collider experiments (including the current Large Hadron Collider at CERN) involve the collision of hadrons. Hadrons are composite particles consisting of partons (quarks and gluons), and this means that in any hadron-hadron collision there will typically be multiple collisions of the constituents — i.e. multiple parton interactions (MPI). Understanding the nature of the MPI is important in terms of searching for new physics in the products of the scatters, and also in its own right to gain a greater understanding of hadron structure. This book aims at providing a pedagogical introduction and a comprehensive review of different research lines linked by an involvement of MPI phenomena. It is written by pioneers as well as young leading scientists, and reviews both experimental findings and theoretical developments, discussing also the remaining open issues.
