Pumping Away and Other Really Cool Piping Options for Hydronic Systems

Pumping Away and Other Really Cool Piping Options for Hydronic Systems PDF Author: Dan Holohan
Publisher:
ISBN: 9780974396088
Category : House & Home
Languages : en
Pages : 128

Book Description
I wrote this book to describe the beautiful workings of hydronic heating systems and I tried to use words that made the subject spring to life in a visual way. It's been one of my best-selling books for years. I kept the drawings simple. Even if you've never worked with hydronics before, you'll be able to follow these drawings. The first part deals with boiler-room piping and explains how you can put the discoveries of the late, great Gil Carlson to work for you. If you pipe Gil's way, you'll save time, money and never again have to bleed radiators. Thousands of installers have reported great success by following the principles in the first part of this book. I wish I could take credit but the genius was Gil Carlson's. I just did my best to tell his story in plain English. The second half of the book takes the "Pumping Away" boiler-room piping design and applies it to a delicious menu of piping options. This is a book that you'll refer to again and again. It will save you time and money. And I guarantee that. - Dan Holohan

Hot and Cold Water Supply

Hot and Cold Water Supply PDF Author: BSI (The British Standards Institution)
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 0470779985
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 354

Book Description
This book provides a highly illustrated guide to the design, installation and maintenance of hot and cold water supply systems for domestic buildings. Based on British Standard BS 6700, the new edition takes into account revisions to the standard since the book was first published in 1991. It has also been updated to give guidance on the 1999 Water Supply Regulations and includes revisions to the Building Regulations. Written for designers and installers, this immensely practical book will also be of interest to technical staff of water undertakers, property services managers and students of NVQ and BTech courses. It was specially commissioned by the British Standards Institution and written for BSI by Bob Garrett, formerly of Langley College of Further Education and past President of the National Association of Plumbing Teachers.

Solar Water Heating

Solar Water Heating PDF Author: Khalil Kassimi
Publisher: Nova Science Publishers
ISBN: 9781536193565
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 337

Book Description
"This book proposes the development of solar water heating applications. The theme is topical since it is linked not only to its economic advantages, but above all to considerations relating to environmental protection. Indeed, the operation of water heating systems, industrial or domestic, by this solar energy, is characterized by the absence of polluting discharges (fumes containing CO2 and Nox), radioactive dangers and bulky waste (nuclear center). Overall, this book deals with the description of solar energy sources (thermal and photovoltaic), the structures of innovative water heating systems by these energy sources, the thermal and electrical modeling of water heating and the estimation of the yields of the different proposed systems. The proposed knowledge makes it possible to discover the field of renewable energy and to have knowledge of the applications of innovative solar heating systems currently marketed or under development in research laboratories. Also, it allows young researchers, doctoral students, academics and engineers to innovate in the field of solar energy and to develop efficient and hybrid solar water heating systems (thermal and photovoltaic energies). The experimental results, numerical simulations and economic studies proposed will be used by design offices to size and propose the appropriate installations for industrial and domestic applications"--

Management of Legionella in Water Systems

Management of Legionella in Water Systems PDF Author: National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 030949382X
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 291

Book Description
Legionnaires' disease, a pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacterium, is the leading cause of reported waterborne disease outbreaks in the United States. Legionella occur naturally in water from many different environmental sources, but grow rapidly in the warm, stagnant conditions that can be found in engineered water systems such as cooling towers, building plumbing, and hot tubs. Humans are primarily exposed to Legionella through inhalation of contaminated aerosols into the respiratory system. Legionnaires' disease can be fatal, with between 3 and 33 percent of Legionella infections leading to death, and studies show the incidence of Legionnaires' disease in the United States increased five-fold from 2000 to 2017. Management of Legionella in Water Systems reviews the state of science on Legionella contamination of water systems, specifically the ecology and diagnosis. This report explores the process of transmission via water systems, quantification, prevention and control, and policy and training issues that affect the incidence of Legionnaires' disease. It also analyzes existing knowledge gaps and recommends research priorities moving forward.
