A Theoretical Analysis, Performance Evaluation, And Reform Solution Of The Health Care System In China

A Theoretical Analysis, Performance Evaluation, And Reform Solution Of The Health Care System In China PDF Author: Hong Sheng
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9811227195
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 394

Book Description
Medical expenditure has become a heavy burden on the public sector and the family system in many countries. Expanding the coverage and reimbursement of medical insurance has become a common way to reduce the burden. This book will elaborate on how medical insurance may increase the burden instead. It explains why the existing medical insurance system results in increased medical costs, where higher costs may offset the benefits of certainty brought by medical insurance, forming the 'paradox of medical care insurance'. This assumption is verified by empirical evidence in China, through a new method developed to find out the actual medical costs, using two parameters: ratio of self-payment of medical insurance and the level of monopoly in the supply of medical services. The book also describes the history, the current situation, and the reform of the health care system in China.

Creating Value in Health Care

Creating Value in Health Care PDF Author: Dr K Ellangovan IAS
Publisher: Notion Press
ISBN: 1685097057
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 233

Book Description
Healthcare is a fragmented service with high variance in quality from hospital to hospital and physician to physician. Often, poor management of hospitals contributes to undesired outcomes. The ‘clinical silos’ from where services are delivered lacks an integrated approach to converge all related specialists around the patient. Patient satisfaction is never a unit of measurement of effectiveness in hospitals. Patients are not routinely engaged in decision making and often communication with relatives is established on the eve of a catastrophic event, either convince them to plead their helplessness. This book reveals the internal performance dimensions that are crucial to improve clinical outcomes. The performance enabling framework is an innovative model for any hospital to adapt. The book brings out with clarity what constitutes ‘value’ in the patients’ perspective. The book convincingly argues that appropriate treatment, which is non-negotiable combined with affordability and patient satisfaction are the three dimensions that will create value in healthcare services.
