Five years ago, my sister had a relapse of her Cancer and a friend recommended us the soursop leaves. We did an internet search and was doubtful, until we met a patient who was doing chemotherapy. He said that it reduced his tumor and subsequently we met an Indonesian family who also confirmed it. My relatives started drinking it while doing chemotherapy concurrently and her cancer marker went down. These testimonies prompted me to source for a supplier to reach out to more people. www.emmanuelcollectionofbooks.com I am glad that to date, I have reached out to many people with all sorts of chronic illnesses besides Cancer.

How to Treat Diabetes Using Soursop Leaves

How to Treat Diabetes Using Soursop Leaves PDF Author: Dr Adel Tundey

Pages : 30

Book Description
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic endocrine disorder of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism characterized by an increase in both fasting and postprandial glucose level and it has been reported to be the major cause of mortality worldwide. There is an alarming projection of 471 million people with the disease by the year 2035. Diabetes is grouped into two forms; type 1, insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and type 2, non- insulin dependent diabetes mellitus. Type 2 is the major form accounting about 90% of cases worldwide. In type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), postprandial hyperglycemia is important in the development of the disease; Current treatment for Type 2 diabetes remains inadequate so prevention is preferable. The major strategy for the management of Type 2 diabetes is to decrease postprandial hyperglycemia. The α-glucosidase inhibitors, such as acarbose, have been used in the clinic to control blood glucose increase, especially postprandial, in DM2.Herbal medicine is predominantly available for the treatment of diabetes and the main advantages of the use of herbal drugs are effectiveness, safety, and acceptability. The mechanism of action of these medicinal plant of its products involve retarding the absorption of glucose by inhibiting the carbohydrate hydrolyzing enzymes, such as pancreatic amylase and α-glucosidase and through the inhibition of these enzymes, medicinal plants can effectively control the postprandial rise in blood glucose. Several medicinal plants have a high potential in inhibiting α-amylase enzyme activity.Annona muricata (A. muricata) is a tropical plant species belonging to family Annonaceae and known for its many ethnomedicinal uses. All parts of Annona are used in natural medicine in the tropics. It is considered to be a good source of natural antioxidants for various diseases. Traditionally, the leaves are used for headaches, insomnia, cystitis, liver problems, and diabetes, antitumor, anti-inflammatory. The health benefits of this plant have been attributed to their unique phytochemical composition. There is, however, a paucity of information that demonstrates the comparative α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory properties of different extracts and fractions, of the various parts of the plant (fruit-pulp, leaf, stem-bark and root-bark) with relation to its anti-diabetic activity. Hence, the present study was carried out to investigate the comparative α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory potentials of methanolic, ethyl acetate and dichloromethane extracts of the fruit-pulp, leaf, stem-bark and root-bark of Annona muricata and also to determine the possible modes and mechanisms of inhibition of these enzymes by these extracts. The justification for this research is the severe gastrointestinal side effects such as abdominal pain, flatulence and diarrhea that have been reported in the patients after the use of conventional drugs, so that the identification of natural interventions through the use of plants like Annona muricata, becomes beneficial due to their very minimal or absence of negative side effects.

The Magnificent Graviola Or Soursop Tree PDF Author: Jennifer Benjawan

Pages : 44

Book Description
Graviola is the Brazilian Portuguese name (also known as soursop) for the fruit of Annona muricata, a broadleaf, flowering, evergreen 4 to 10 meter tall tree from the Amazon rain forest, also found in the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, Africa and Southeast Asia. The soursop fruit and other parts of the tree are considered to be underutilized. Information on the composition, nutritional values, medicinal uses, and toxicology of the soursop fruit and plant is limited and scattered. This 44-page booklet contains in an organized manner a fair collection of what is available and apparently reliable on the internet. The work provides a detailed description of the tree, its propagation, cultivation and the beneficial properties and uses of its fruit and leaves. The standard treatment and killing of cancer cells by way of chemotherapy is an ordeal with traumatic side effects that many patients ultimately refuse for its severity. According to Cancer Research UK, "Many sites on the internet advertise and promote graviola capsules as a cancer cure, but none of them are supported by any reputable scientific cancer organisations" and "there is no evidence to show that graviola works as a cure for cancer." On the other hand, the renowned Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City lists cancer treatment as one of the purported uses of soursop, as does the University of Connecticut - Ecology & Evolutionary Biology. Sloan-Kettering writes: "Graviola extracts from the leaf, fruit, and seed have been tested in laboratories for their anticancer effects. Some studies show these extracts to be active against breast, lung, colon, prostate, pancreas, liver, skin cancer, and leukemia cell lines. However, graviola products have not been studied in cancer patients."

Book Description
Hypertension is a major risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease, and medications aimed at reducing blood pressure levels have been shown to reduce the morbidity and mortality. However, many of these medications produce undesirable side effects. As a result, there is much inter-est in the use of alternative medicine in the treatment of hypertension and in the search for plants with hypoten-sive activity and less adverse side effects, reported that a decoction made from the fruits, leaves, and twigs of Annona muri-cata Linn (Annonaceae) is drunk to treat high blood pressure, and there have been reports that the plant extract has antihypertensive properties .A. muricata is found widely in the West Indies, South and Central America, tropical West Africa, and Asia. In the West Indies, various parts of the plant, including the leaves, bark and roots have been used to treat disease conditions such as diabetes and arthritis. Other reported medicinal uses of A. muricata include its anticancer, antibacterial and antifungal actions, as well as, its antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory effects.Phytochemical screening of the leaves of A. muricata has shown it to consist of alkaloids such as reticuline, coreximine, coclarine and anomurine, annomuricin E, annomuricin C, muricato-cin C, gigantetronenin and muricapentocin with anti-oxidant and antitumor properties, as well as, essential oils such as β-caryophyllene, δ-cadinene, epi-α-cadinol and α-cadinol.Although there are reports that the A. muricata plant may have antihypertensive properties, the mechanism of action has not been investigated and remains unknown. e present study therefore sought to investigate the pos-sible mechanisms of action of the hypotensive effect of the aqueous leaf extract of A. muricata in normotensive Sprague-Dawley rats.
