This provides the priorities for Commission controls in 2021-2025 and the detailed activities planned for 2022. The present document updates the detailed control programme for the second half of 2022. It takes account of changes that have become necessary as the year progressed. These changes result from the reprioritisation of controls and resources in order to better contribute to the Commissioner's mandate. Some of the planned controls affected by these changes have been postponed to 2023. A limited number of third countries shown as "to be confirmed" in the published work programme 2022 are named in this update. Annexes 1 to 3 provide the lists of audits and similar controls planned from July to December 2022 per country: Annex 1 relates to Member States, Annex 2 relates to candidate countries and Annex 3 to third countries.

The work programme of audits and analysis is developed in consultation with other Commission services and with Member States, taking into consideration risk as well as trade and regulatory factors. Chapter 3 provides an overview of the strategic multi-annual programme in the areas of food and feed safety, food quality, animal health, animal welfare and plant health. The multi-annual programme is reviewed annually to make sure it is up to date and focusses on the areas of highest risk. Chapter 3 also contains a detailed description of the audit programme for 2016. An update of the audit programme for the second half of 2016 will be published mid-year. In addition, this chapter describes a large amount of related non-audit work that is carried out alongside. Chapter 4 gives an outline of the programme of audits and assessments in the human health area. Finally, this document also contains a short report on the execution of the audit programme in 2014 (chapter 5).
