We do not require the definition of symbols when the definition is a statement of their use, as the correct use is sufficient evidence that it is understood. Teaching Chromatic Tones and Advanced Rhythms. Nearly every pos sible combination of chromatic tones may be given as the natural scale tones in another key. This fact is illustrated again and again in the lessons in the book, and in chart drills. Similarly every rhythm, however com plicated, will be found on analysis to be but a new combination of elements already made familiar by the analysis given in the chart.
