Renovation of the Heart

Renovation of the Heart PDF Author: Dallas Willard
Publisher: Tyndale House
ISBN: 1615214550
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 381

Book Description
As Christians, we know that we are new creations in Jesus. So we try to act differently, hoping this will make us more like Him. But changing our outward behavior doesn’t change our hearts. Only by God’s grace can we be transformed internally. Renovation of the Heart lays a biblical foundation for understanding what best-selling author Dallas Willard calls the “transformation of the spirit”—a divine process that “brings every element in our being, working from inside out, into harmony with the will of God.” This fresh approach to spiritual growth explains the biblical reasons why Christians need to undergo change in six aspects of life: thought, feeling, will, body, social context, and soul. Willard also outlines a general pattern of transformation in each area, not as a sterile formula but as a practical process that you can follow without the guilt or perfectionism so many Christians wrestle with. Don’t settle for complacency. Accept the challenge Renovation of the Heart offers to become an intentional apprentice of Jesus Christ, changing daily as you walk with Him.

Lead From The Heart

Lead From The Heart PDF Author: Mark C. Crowley
Publisher: Hay House, Inc
ISBN: 1401967612
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 306

Book Description
Leadership and engagement expert Mark C. Crowley shows how trading in the old business playbook for heart-led leadership strategies will create purpose-driven, dedicated employees and higher levels of performance. Revised and updated to address the needs of those managing Gen Z and millennial employees in addition to the latest global research on employee engagement. In this thoroughly revised and updated edition of his now classic book, visionary Mark C. Crowley provides the roadmap workplace leaders the world over are seeking: How to most successfully and sustainably inspire and manage other human beings in the post-pandemic era. · Nearly 50 million workers quit their jobs in the U.S. alone in 2021—a record number likely to be exceeded in 2022. · While we might imagine that an opportunity to earn greater pay is the key driver of this “Great Resignation,” research shows two-thirds of the reasons people leave jobs boil down to issues related to their engagement and overall well-being. · More specifically, people quit when they feel they aren’t valued, respected, appreciated, coached—or cared about personally—by their manager and organization. · Thanks in large part to the COVID pandemic and a global reset of what matters most to people in their lives, human beings have profoundly evolved in what they need and want in exchange for their work. · Consequently, a radical change in employee expectations demands that organizations and managers rapidly pivot by embracing leadership practices that match the moment. · The remedy to the Great Resignation is to adopt more humane ways of managing people knowing they inherently lead to infinitely greater engagement not to mention optimal employee performance. · In this new and updated version of his seminal and visionary book, Mark C. Crowley draws upon emerging medical and other scientific discoveries which prove it's the heart, not the mind, that drives human motivation and achievement. · While we’ve long been led to believe that human beings are essentially rational beings, new research shows that feelings and emotions far more often motivate human behavior and what people care about most and commit themselves to in their lives. · In light of this breakthrough understanding, it’s become incumbent upon workplace managers to pay great attention to their employees' emotional experience at work—far greater attention than any of us ever believed necessary. · Ironically, most of us were told the heart has no place in workplace management. In fact, most of us were taught that the heart acts like Kryptonite in leadership: it inherently undermines a manager's effectiveness - and lowers performance. · What makes this book so remarkable is that it brilliantly contradicts all those traditional beliefs and proves why people naturally and instinctively respond to managers who care about them personally and support their deep human needs. · To be absolutely clear, there's nothing soft or weak about the Lead From The Heart philosophy. Instead, it represents the future of workplace management and a roadmap to driving uncommon engagement, productivity and profitability when organizations around the world are wanting it most. · Rich with inspiring stories and illuminating research, this book proves that when you lead people with a greater balance of mind and heart, people naturally follow. And they also excel.

"Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy." So begins a story of unforgettable perception, beautifully written and illustrated by the gifted and versatile Shel Silverstein. This moving parable for all ages offers a touching interpretation of the gift of giving and a serene acceptance of another's capacity to love in return. Every day the boy would come to the tree to eat her apples, swing from her branches, or slide down her trunk...and the tree was happy. But as the boy grew older he began to want more from the tree, and the tree gave and gave and gave. This is a tender story, touched with sadness, aglow with consolation. Shel Silverstein's incomparable career as a bestselling children's book author and illustrator began with Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back. He is also the creator of picture books including A Giraffe and a Half, Who Wants a Cheap Rhinoceros?, The Missing Piece, The Missing Piece Meets the Big O, and the perennial favorite The Giving Tree, and of classic poetry collections such as Where the Sidewalk Ends, A Light in the Attic, Falling Up, Every Thing On It, Don't Bump the Glump!, and Runny Babbit. Joseph Smith’s Polygamy, Volume 1: History

Joseph Smith’s Polygamy, Volume 1: History PDF Author: Brian C. Hales
Publisher: Greg Kofford Books
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 638

Book Description
Few American religious figures have stirred more passion among adherents and antagonists than Joseph Smith. Born in 1805 and silenced thirty-nine years later by assassins’ bullets, he dictated more than one-hundred revelations, published books of new scripture, built a temple, organized several new cities, and became the proclaimed prophet to tens of thousands during his abbreviated life. Among his many novel teachings and practices, none is more controversial than plural marriage, a restoration of the Old Testament practice that he accepted as part of his divinely appointed mission. Joseph Smith taught his polygamy doctrines only in secret and dictated a revelation in July 1843 authorizing its practice (now LDS D&C 132) that was never published during his lifetime. Although rumors and exposés multiplied, it was not until 1852 that Mormons in Brigham Young’s Utah took a public stand. By then, thousands of Mormons were engaged in the practice that was seen as essential to salvation. Victorian America saw plural marriage as immoral and Joseph Smith as acting on libido. However, the private writings of Nauvoo participants and other polygamy insiders tell another, more complex and nuanced story. Many of these accounts have never been published. Others have been printed sporadically in unrelated publications. Drawing on every known historical account, whether by supporters or opponents, Volumes 1 and 2 take a fresh look at the chronology and development of Mormon polygamy, including the difficult conundrums of the Fannie Alger relationship, polyandry, the “angel with a sword” accounts, Emma Smith’s poignant response, and the possibility of Joseph Smith offspring by his plural wives. Among the most intriguing are the newly available Andrew Jenson papers containing not only the often-quoted statements by surviving plural wives but also Jenson’s own private research, conducted in the late nineteenth century. Telling the story of Joseph Smith’s polygamy from the records of those who knew him best, augmented by those who observed him from a distance, may have produced the most useful view of all.

Love, Life, & Happiness

Book Description
Love, Life, & Happiness This book was written due to having many trials in life, but in the midst of it all the sun continued to shine for me. Although, I am excited about each poem written or poetry book published I am more excited about my second publication than I was with my first. Each poem has been written with lots of feeling and dedication. There may be many who will agree or disagree with what I have written but my work is written for society''''s approval; it is written due to how I feel or the things I see. Life is a challenge for us all; even the richest of the rich have trials and tribulations in life. No matter what, we can''''t escape what lies ahead for us. We have to learn to adjust to our own situations to better help ourselves as well as others. We have to learn to help one another not be against one another. I know it''''s easier said than done. But we have to try to make this world a better place for ourselves and mainly for our children. Yes, it will take a lot of time and effort but we have to start somewhere and remain dedicated to helping one another and try and maintain a more positive atmosphere for everyone. Many have said to me "when your book is published don''''t forget me" There are many I won''''t forget and there are many I''''d rather not deal with I am only being as honest as possible. For those of you that vanished from my life for whatever reasons please don''''t plan to re-appear just because I have published a few books. A friend will be a friend till the end not when "money" appears. No, I may not be like my poetry but do I have to? Are you the same in every way possible of your life? We all have different ways of expressing how we feel when no one is there to listen, as for me, I write. I have worked hard and struggled and have overcome many obstacles there are few who have stood at my side through it all and there are few who will join in my celebrations. I would like to thank each and every person that has supported me by purchasing my books and forwarding me your letters. Thank you to each and every "true" friend" that has been there for me Thank you to each and every "true" family member that showed support from the very beginning. Thank you to each and every staff member at 1st Books Library for doing such a wonderful job. Thanks to the websites that have displayed my work. Most of all, thank you God for showing me a side of me that I didn''''t know existed.

inch....this work is likely to become a standart work very quickly and is to be recommended to all schools where recorder studies are undertaken inch. (Oliver James, Contact Magazine) A novel and comprehensive approach to transferring from the C to F instrument. 430 music examples include folk and national songs (some in two parts), country dance tunes and excerpts from the standard treble repertoire ofBach, Barsanti, Corelli, Handel, Telemann, etc. An outstanding feature of the book has proved to be Brian Bonsor's brilliantly simple but highly effective practice circles and recognition squares designed to give, in only a few minutes, concentrated practice on the more usual leaps to and from each new note and instant recognition of random notes. Quickly emulating the outstanding success of the descant tutors, these books are very popular even with those who normally use tutors other than the Enjoy the Recorder series.
