Jacob Hackett (b. ca. 1772) was born in New Jersey, the grandson of Samuel Hackett, who founded Hackettstown, N.J. in 1670. He married Elizabeth Moore of Pennsylvania in 1803. The family later settled in Chinquocoucy, Ontario, Canada. In the late 1830's their adult sons moved to Wisconsin. Descendants lived in Ontario, Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Washington, California, and elsewhere.
