La conceptualización de las nociones de hábitat sustentable, diseño integrativo y complejidad plantea la necesidad de abordar las preguntas ¿cómo aportar al hábitat sustentable desde procesos transdisciplinarios?, ¿cuál es la responsabilidad del diseño en el contexto actual? y ¿cómo afrontar la complejidad de pensar y dar respuesta a los fenómenos urbanos, arquitectónicos y tecnológicos? Estas aproximaciones se construyen desde tres perspectivas: la gestión cultural e integral del territorio, la tecnología, ambiente y sostenibilidad, y el diseño integrativo, hábitat y proyecto. Para esto, se inicia con una reflexión sobre el significado del diseño en relación con la forma, y cómo este es entendido como metadisciplina que integra la voz de los técnicos y expertos con la de la gente que vive, disfruta o padece los objetos del diseño. Posteriormente, se identifica la relación entre las nociones de diseño integrativo, hábitat y complejidad, a la luz de la transdisciplinariedad. A partir de este marco, se profundiza en la relación entre gobernanza, resiliencia y reconversión urbana, en tiempos de globalización neoliberal e hipercompetitiva, teniendo como base la ética ecológica, la participación ciudadana y la corresponsabilidad. En otra escala, se analizan las relaciones entre tecnología, ambiente y sostenibilidad, desde una visión de futuro basada en la utilización de la energía, el consumo de recursos, el reciclaje de desechos, entre otros. Como cierre, se aborda el tema de la investigación proyectual desde una reflexión epistemológica que compromete la relación entre procesos, mapas y territorios, para establecer apuntes estratégicos para la investigación-creación.
