Mechanical and Electro-chemical Interactions under Tribocorrosion

Mechanical and Electro-chemical Interactions under Tribocorrosion PDF Author: Pierre Ponthiaux
Publisher: Woodhead Publishing
ISBN: 012823766X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 280

Book Description
Mechanical and Electro-chemical Interactions under Tribocorrosion: From Measurements to Modelling for Building a Relevant Monitoring Approach looks at progress in the field of tribocorrosion. The work is a result of the efforts of the European tribocorrosion community gathered under the auspices of the European Corrosion Federation (EFC) within WP18 Tribocorrosion. In addition to the handbook, Testing Tribocorrosion of Passivating Materials Supporting Research and industrial Innovation published in 2012, this release describes the latest scientific approaches recognized and validated experimentally to address tribocorrosion. Sections look at the phenomena of coupling through an understanding of the associated mechanisms and how to identify variables. Final sections cover strategies to control and/or extend the life of structures in a multi-process coupling situation and an in-depth description of the current state-of-the-art on modeling approaches of tribocorrosion. - Reviews the multidisciplinary basics of tribocorrosion - Includes insights into novel experimental approaches - Provides insights into advanced modeling techniques of tribocorrosion - Looks at the implication of results in the development of the monitoring of tribocorrosion

Book Description
Sales and marketing professionals in the upstream oil and gas sector want to know their customer, but in an industry so complicated, that is not always easy. J. Denver Smart, who has worked in the upstream oil and gas sector for a leading global automation solutions provider, provides a consolidated overview of upstream processing, key operations, and business drivers that are relevant to day-to-day operator challenges in this reference guide. Topics covered include: - the primary market drivers and business parameters that affect the short- and long-term economic viability of upstream operators; - market indicators used to assess current and regional industry trends; - various lifecycle stages of an oilfield and how they influence primary business objectives; and - basic elements, principles, operations, and procedures to understand the diverse concepts associated with finding, extracting, and producing oil and gas reserves.

Managing Coastal Erosion

Managing Coastal Erosion PDF Author: National Research Council
Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309041430
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 199

Book Description
More and more of the nation's vast coastlines are being filled with homes and vacation resorts. The result is an increasing number of structures built on erosion-prone shoresâ€"with many of these structures facing collapse or damage. In response to mounting property losses, Congress has given the Federal Emergency Management Agency responsibility for incorporating coastal erosion into its National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). This book from the National Research Council addresses the immediate question of how to develop an erosion insurance programâ€"as well as the larger issues raised by the continually changing face of our nation's shorelines. Managing Coastal Erosion explores major questions surrounding a national policy on coastal erosion: Should the federal government be in the business of protecting developers and individuals who build in erosion-prone coastal areas? How should such a program be implemented? Can it prompt more responsible management of coastal areas? The volume provides federal policymakers, state floodplain and resource managers, civil engineers, environmental groups, marine specialists, development companies, and researchers with invaluable information about the natural processes of coastal erosion and the effect of human activity on those processes. The book also details the workings of the NFIP, lessons to be learned from numerous state coastal management programs, and much more.

Sand Control in Well Construction and Operation

Sand Control in Well Construction and Operation PDF Author: Davorin Matanovic
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642256147
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 205

Book Description
Produced sand causes a lot of problems. From that reasons sand production must be monitored and kept within acceptable limits. Sand control problems in wells result from improper completion techniques or changes in reservoir properties. The idea is to provide support to the formation to prevent movement under stresses resulting from fluid flow from reservoir to well bore. That means that sand control often result with reduced well production. Control of sand production is achieved by: reducing drag forces (the cheapest and most effective method), mechanical sand bridging (screens, gravel packs) and increasing of formation strength (chemical consolidation). For open hole completions or with un-cemented slotted liners/screens sand failure will occur and must be predicted. Main problem is plugging. To combat well failures due to plugging and sand breakthrough Water-Packing or Shunt-Packing are used.
