Les récentes crises financières ont mis en évidence que de nombreux événements supposés se produire « occasionnellement » surviennent en fait bien plus souvent que prévu. Elles ont également posé les limites des théories financières existantes, qui apparaissent comme dépassées et inadaptées au nouvel environnement boursier. Aujourd'hui plus que jamais, nous devons donc reconsidérer notre manière d'investir et explorer de nouvelles voies pour mieux gérer et faire fructifier notre capital, mais aussi le préserver lorsque surviennent des crises. A cet effet, ce livre propose un nouveau cadre de construction et de gestion de portefeuille qui repose sur un processus flexible de sélection de valeurs, basé davantage sur l'attrait des différentes classes d'actifs que sur une certaine rigidité dans leur allocation. La notion d’efficience, ou plutôt d’inefficience, des marchés est bien évidemment abordée pour démontrer la complémentarité des analyses fondamentale et technique ainsi que de la finance comportementale. En matière de sélection de titres, trois approches pratiques sont passées en revue : celles de Warren Buffett, de Benjamin Graham et de Peter Lynch. Lukasz Snopek privilégie clairement un mode de gestion axé sur la maîtrise des risques plutôt que sur les rendements espérés. Il a développé à cet effet un nouveau cadre d’investissement, à la fois simple et pragmatique, reposant sur quatre forces qui guident selon lui le marché : la force macro-économique, la force fondamentale, la force technique et la force comportementale. Chaque classe d’actifs est étudiée par rapport à ces forces, ce qui permet à l’investisseur, en fonction de ses objectifs, de construire et de gérer son portefeuille avec le maximum de maîtrise du risque et d’efficacité.
