Single-Chain Polymer Nanoparticles

Single-Chain Polymer Nanoparticles PDF Author: José A. Pomposo
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527806393
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 504

Book Description
This first book on this important and emerging topic presents an overview of the very latest results obtained in single-chain polymer nanoparticles obtained by folding synthetic single polymer chains, painting a complete picture from synthesis via characterization to everyday applications. The initial chapters describe the synthetics methods as well as the molecular simulation of these nanoparticles, while subsequent chapters discuss the analytical techniques that are applied to characterize them, including size and structural characterization as well as scattering techniques. The final chapters are then devoted to the practical applications in nanomedicine, sensing, catalysis and several other uses, concluding with a look at the future for such nanoparticles. Essential reading for polymer and materials scientists, materials engineers, biochemists as well as environmental chemists.

Drug Transporters

Drug Transporters PDF Author: Martin F. Fromm
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642145418
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 457

Book Description
It is increasingly recognized that various transporter proteins are expressed throughout the body and determine absorption, tissue distribution, biliary and renal elimination of endogenous compounds and drugs and drug effects. This book will give an overview on the transporter families which are most important for drug therapy. Most chapters will focus on one transporter family highlighting tissue expression, substrates, inhibitors, knock-out mouse models and clinical studies.

Antisense Therapeutics

Antisense Therapeutics PDF Author: Sudhir Agrawal
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781592595853
Category : Antisense nucleic acids
Languages : en
Pages : 276

Book Description
Annotation Dr. Agrawal's newest book is of significant importance since oligonucleotide-based drugs have the advantage of retaining their recognition for the target RNA, and provide the tools needed to modulate the expression of specific genes, making Antisense Therapeutics an essential resource for all antisense researchers.

Intracellular Delivery

Intracellular Delivery PDF Author: Aleš Prokop
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400712480
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 871

Book Description
This book features a special subsection of Nanomedicine, an application of nanotechnology to achieve breakthroughs in healthcare. It exploits the improved and often novel physical, chemical and biological properties of materials only existent at the nanometer scale. As a consequence of small scale, nanosystems in most cases are efficiently uptaken by cells and appear to act at the intracellular level. Nanotechnology has the potential to improve diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of diseases, and includes targeted drug delivery and regenerative medicine; it creates new tools and methods that impact significantly upon existing conservative practices. This volume is a collection of authoritative reviews. In the introductory section we define the field (intracellular delivery). Then, the fundamental routes of nanodelivery devices, cellular uptake, types of delivery devices, particularly in terms of localized cellular delivery, both for small drug molecules, macromolecular drugs and genes; at the academic and applied levels, are covered. The following section is dedicated to enhancing delivery via special targeting motifs followed by the introduction of different types of intracellular nanodelivery devices (e.g. a brief description of their chemistry) and ways of producing these different devices. Finally, we put special emphasis on particular disease states and on other biomedical applications, whilst diagnostic and sensing issues are also included. Intracellular delivery / therapy is a highly topical which will stir great interest. Intracellular delivery enables much more efficient drug delivery since the impact (on different organelles and sites) is intracellular as the drug is not supplied externally within the blood stream. There is great potential for targeted delivery with improved localized delivery and efficacy.
