Offerings of milk, honey, and cakes are made to these 'outsiders' in certain spots which they are believed to frequent and the country-women, when they see the wind-driven clouds scudding overhead, repeat aloud the words, Honey and milk to avert all evil from themselves. Tempestuous weather is also sometimes attributed to the festivities attend ant on a wedding among the Nereids.
