Well Logging Handbook
Author: Oberto Serra
Publisher: Editions OPHRYS
ISBN: 9782710811374
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 612
Book Description
Following the success of the Drilling Data Handbook, Editions Technip has designed this book to cover the well logging principles and its applications. This well logging handbook first edition starts with a summary on geology and petrophysics focusing mainly on its applications. The wide range of logging measurements and applications is covered through eleven sections, each of them organized into four chapters. All in all, this is a strongly-bound, user-friendly book with useful information for those involved in all aspects and applications of well-logging. The paging is notched and externally labelled alphabetically to allow a quick access.

Fundamentals of Well-log Interpretation: The interpretation of logging data
Author: Oberto Serra
Publisher: Elsevier Publishing Company
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 692
Book Description
Conceived and written by a geologist for geologists, Fundamentals of Well-Log Interpretation is a considerably revised and updated translation of the French edition. Part 1 dealt with the acquisition of logging data and when it appeared, one reviewer wrote: Serra has written a major reference work which is unusually well-organized, well-illustrated, and information-rich...If volume 2 is as thorough and exacting in detail as volume 1, it will do much toward furthering geologists' knowledge of well logging.'' (AAPG Bulletin). The fundamental objective of this second volume is to show that wireline log data constitute a remarkable source of geological information of the utmost importance for geologists, but also for reservoir engineers, geophysicists and petrophysicists. Too often, by nature of their training, geologists do not realize that wireline log data, which are physical data, hold in fact a tremendous variety of geological information covering practically all branches of geology. They are reluctant to use these data because often they are not familiar with them and do not know how to interpret wireline logs.

Developments in Geophysical Exploration Methods—3
Author: A.A. Fitch
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9400973497
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 317
Book Description
One of the themes in current geophysical development is the bringing together of the results of observations made on the surface and those made in the subsurface. Several benefits result from this association. The detailed geological knowledge obtained in the subsurface can be extrapolated for short distances with more confidence when the geologi cal detail has been related to well-integrated subsurface and surface geophysical data. This is of value when assessing the characteristics of a partially developed petroleum reservoir. Interpretation of geophysical data is generally improved by the experience of seeing the surface and subsurface geophysical expression of a known geological configuration. On the theoretical side, the understanding of the geophysical processes themselves is furthered by the study of the phenomena in depth. As an example, the study of the progress of seismic wave trains downwards and upwards within the earth has proved most instructive. This set of original papers deals with some of the more vigorous developments in subsurface geophysics: and it is hoped that it will contribute to the understanding of geophysical phenomena in the solid. The editor thanks the busy workers in the several fields who have made time to produce these contributions.
